Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01am Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Jason! So far, so good! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:02am Thibault:

Hi Jason, hi Jan, I touch wood...
Avatar 11:02am Jason Elbogen:

I reinstalled, so hopefully it'll work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Thibault:

I hope you didn't loose all your settings and tweaks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03am Jan Turkenburg:

You may however have accidentally finished your playlist? The comments appear underneath...
Avatar 11:06am Jason Elbogen:

Yeah, I accidentally clicked that... is there a way to reverse it, I don't know...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Jan Turkenburg:

yes, in the top menu -> change playlist info -> check "in progress"
Avatar 11:08am Jason Elbogen:

thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:08am Jan Turkenburg:

Yes! (happens to me a lot...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Jan Turkenburg:

There are the usual brief connection hick-ups, but nothing serious so far.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:13am Jan Turkenburg:

I'll be back in 30 minutes :-)
Avatar 11:16am Martinibomb:

hey Jason!
Avatar 11:16am Martinibomb:

How's the juggling going?
Avatar 11:21am Jason Elbogen:

Erik - long songs are helping smooth things out...
Has my signal been consistently ok/not fading in between me/robot?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:24am Thibault:

No robots, no monkeys so far...
Avatar 11:29am Martinibomb:

yeh seems fine I've been doing other stuff but haven't noticed anything
Avatar 11:33am Martinibomb:

sounding good. your vocals are right on
Avatar 11:33am Martinibomb:

oh you just dropped out - sounds like wifi drops
Avatar 11:34am Martinibomb:

just that one hiccup so far
Avatar 11:35am Martinibomb:

you're okay right now it's mostly good if it's not wifi okay... it's just internet stuff. If you're running zoom it might be sucking up some bandwidth etc..
Avatar 11:36am Martinibomb:

I feel like i'm throwing u off with my comments. Don't worry much about this right now I'm just noting things.. so we can fix it.
Avatar 11:36am Martinibomb:

Some internet/drop issues again right there
Avatar 11:38am Martinibomb:

I've been curious about trying CellPhone internet tethering for folks with drops/bad internet
  11:38am mmzz:

i got the marathon swag cd other day. it's good. thanks.
Avatar 11:38am Martinibomb:

^I'm still waiting for my swag! So jealous
Avatar 11:45am Mayuko:

Greetings!
Avatar 11:46am Martinibomb:

It might be worth buying another ethernet port for your computer. It's possible the hardware on your computer is faulty. A new ethernet card is cheap like $15
Avatar 11:47am Martinibomb:

Mayuko! Nice to see you
Avatar 11:47am Jason Elbogen:

Hey Mayuko! Coincidence! Yesterday my family saw an installation piece of yours 3 blocks from my home!
Avatar 11:47am Jason Elbogen:

Forest Hills--you were one of the people who worked on it, right?
Avatar 11:47am Martinibomb:

@u might also try moving the ethernet cable to a different port on your router - possible the router is having an issue there
Avatar 11:49am Martinibomb:

I was getting drops on my PC and I replaced the built-in wifi and now it works perfect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Linda Lee:

hello! 1980 comin in just fine here! i remember well.
Avatar 11:50am Mayuko:

@Martinibomb Nice to see you too and to be here!

@Jason That's great! There are a couple of stuff I involved in Forest Hills, mural and a sculpture installation... I wonder which one you guys saw?
Avatar 11:51am Martinibomb:

It's my hypothesis that most of the connection issues wfmu djs have experienced are due to faulty hardware and not the ISP
Avatar 11:51am Martinibomb:

@Mayuko I wanna see your installation. I didn't know you were an artist!
Avatar 11:52am solo mon:

Morning afternoon or evening everyone!
Avatar 11:52am Martinibomb:

hey sol!
Avatar 11:54am solo mon:

Mb! Happy Friday
Avatar 11:54am Jason Elbogen:

Mayuko - Sculpture Installation in the small park right off of Queens Boulevard. 3 Level House with rabbits, roses, and staircases...My son had a question about it, maybe I can get him to come here and ask you!
Avatar 11:57am Martinibomb:

It crashed! arrrgg okay let get together and work on your system we can get it working.
Avatar 11:58am solo mon:

Did it? I hear you
Avatar 11:58am Martinibomb:

I thougth u said it crashed no.. ug
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Thibault:

no I can hear you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Jan Turkenburg:

We hear you!
Avatar 11:58am Martinibomb:

you're fine I can hear you sorry
Avatar 11:58am Martinibomb:

Sorry I was responding to what you said on air
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59am Thibault:

ouch, now it looks like it crashed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Thibault:

that's what I call performativity
Avatar 12:00pm Martinibomb:

yeh now it's offline no audio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:00pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi MB! I just got back. Looks like the troubles weren't solved by re-installing.. :-(
Avatar 12:01pm solo mon:

Hmmm darn it
Avatar 12:01pm Martinibomb:

hmm I don't even think it's connecting from the listener end
Avatar 12:01pm solo mon:

Yeah I think it crashed :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:01pm Jan Turkenburg:

this happened last week too..
Avatar 12:01pm Jason Elbogen:

yeah... mixx just crashed...
Avatar 12:02pm Martinibomb:

okay I just need to work with you for an hour or so in real time to get a system that works for you Jason.
Avatar 12:03pm Martinibomb:

please let me know when you have some time to get with me and lets figure it out
Avatar 12:04pm Mayuko:

Now I'm hearing music though not sure if it's you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:05pm Otis Fodder:

Good slighty-after-noon everyone. Hi Jason. Happy post-birthday Jan, missed the past 2 days here, sucked into a time vortex.
Avatar 12:06pm Martinibomb:

yeh that's his background music Mayuko.. Jason has a 2fold issue. 1. Mixxx keeps crashing on him. 2. Internet drops and they are unrelated. So that's two issues to work on.
Avatar 12:07pm Martinibomb:

@Mayuko was your show remote or did you goto the station? I'm just curious what your remote setup is if you have one.
Avatar 12:10pm Mayuko:

Jason seems to have been cursed by Radio God for quite some time now. My show was remote too, I had an extremely simple set up. I would convert everything into digital files and play them with a usb mixer and mixxx.
Avatar 12:11pm Mr Fab:

Hey Jason (and all radio argonauts). Things seems to be going well in recent moments? Lovely stuff. Fingers crossed!
Avatar 12:12pm Mayuko:

@Martinibomb & it feels funny to answer the other question you had at this timing, but I was gonna say the installation Jason saw wasn't my work - I was in the team developed it with NYC Parks. It's a fun job!
Avatar 12:13pm Martinibomb:

@mayuko must be a big installation that's always super fun working on something creative like that with other people.
Avatar 12:14pm solo mon:

Oh cool sounds like we r back.
Avatar 12:15pm solo mon:

Hi Otis! How’s Montreal today?
Avatar 12:18pm Jason Elbogen:

Mayuko, is that it?
Avatar 12:19pm Mayuko:

@Jason yeah! when was this photo taken? I see another one of the bunnies got beheaded.
Avatar 12:19pm Mr Fab:

MB, You should really go on Mayuko’s website, her work is amazing.
Avatar 12:20pm solo mon:

This music is great btw.
Avatar 12:20pm Jason Elbogen:

Yesterday afternoon.
Avatar 12:21pm Mayuko:

@Jason ugh! There was one beheaded the other day but we fixed it, so this must be another one freshly murdered. People are pretty violent over there!
Avatar 12:22pm Mayuko:

Aw, THANK YOU Mr Fab! That's so nice of you to have seen my work!!!
Avatar 12:23pm solo mon:

Mayuko I love your work! One of my favorites is the cut mirror!
Avatar 12:27pm Mayuko:

@solo mon Aw thank you!!! I'd love to resume that cut mirror series! Especially since now it's becoming a good season for more outdoor projects.
Avatar 12:27pm Martinibomb:

@mayuko whoa! this paper cut work your doing is fantastic I love paper cuts - and I'm perusing the rest of your portfolio via your website -
Avatar 12:29pm solo mon:

I love how many talented interesting people are round these parts
Avatar 12:30pm Mayuko:

@Martinibomb I'm so happy to hear you like em!!!
Avatar 12:30pm solo mon:

Yeah paper is such a cool medium to work with and hard to do so elegantly, good work!
Avatar 12:32pm Mayuko:

@solo mon It's such beautifully simple material with SO many limitations & SO many possibilities!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm Otis Fodder:

Montreal has cooled off Solo... just sent a telegram your way by Glitter Ship, that Dazzles.
Avatar 12:35pm Mr Fab:

This Dojoji record really sounds like downtown NYC band, but think they’re Dutch? Love it.
Avatar 12:36pm Bri The Beatnik:

It sounds like “Let the music play”
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Thibault:

we can't hear you Jason, just your bed music
Avatar 12:37pm Mayuko:

@Otis I live 100 miles closer to Montreal now, will definitely be road-tripping over there once I get a car! I'm selfishly hoping you'll be DJing for a dance party then!
Avatar 12:37pm Bri The Beatnik:

I can hear you Jason!
Avatar 12:37pm solo mon:

Yes Bri! Totally sounds like that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Otis Fodder:

Hi May Bomb Solo Bri Thi Fab with our DeeJay-son
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Jan Turkenburg:

@Mr Fab. I must admit i didn't know them, but yes they are Dutch: www.muziekencyclopedie.nl...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm joe:

'ello folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:38pm Thibault:

well, your voice doesn't reach this side of the Atlantic
Avatar 12:39pm Martinibomb:

I've always been into paper cut since I was a little little kid.. I used to make huge sculptures out of paper. And I think my own art style is influenced by paper cut out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Jan Turkenburg:

Hi ehm... everybody!!!!! :-)
Avatar 12:39pm Mr Fab:

Nope, cannot hear our host...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm Otis Fodder:

Mayuko, hiiii, that's fantastic. No outward DJ plans on my horizon, but walking around town and donning masks in shops would be fantastic. You and others (or any others) visiting, my partner and I love to put on tour guide caps and bounce about town.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40pm Otis Fodder:

Happy Birthday week Jan.

i'm joining the club of Mayuko's art admirers!
Avatar 12:42pm solo mon:

Otis! Thanks for the email :-) I’m so glad to be ur friend
Avatar 12:43pm Bri The Beatnik:

Jan! Hi! Sorry I missed Sounds under ‘64 not allowed. I never know what time that show comes on. (Plus my sleep schedule’s all whacked out, I tried to wake up earlier) And Otis! I missed you soo much!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm Otis Fodder:

Jan - Ahhh, was in surgery this week, missed a full day. Nothing serious. Plus, being off social media, it's like it's 2000 with email and voice mail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Otis Fodder:

Bri - Been missing Night Owl, sleep schedule turned into crashing early the past few days. Think I'll tune in tonight though for a wee bit at Midnight, like an hour. Fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44pm Jan Turkenburg:

No problem Bri. or should I say: "Cheer up Bri The Beatnik" :-)
Avatar 12:45pm Bri The Beatnik:

Haha Jan! :)
Avatar 12:45pm Bri The Beatnik:

Yay Otis! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm Otis Fodder:

Solo - Ditto!
Avatar 12:47pm Mr Fab:

Jason, happy to hear the music portion of your show has been sounding great. Couple split-second dropouts, but nothing distracting. Did not hear your back-announcing, tho, just the bed music.
Avatar 12:49pm Mayuko:

@Martinibomb where can I see YOUR art!? I'd love to check out!

@Otis I was forgetting for a moment that Canada want NO people from 'Merica at the moment (if not forever?) But I'd love to get there as soon as I can and it'd be great to have you and your partner as guide!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:49pm Otis Fodder:

I just tuned in at Noon, but so far the drops have been few. I'm sure after MB helps you Jason, it will help with issues considerably. The journey in drops and technical diffs is frustrating I know on your end... but from this listener's standpoint, it's sometimes fun.
Avatar 12:50pm Mayuko:

@Jan Thank you! :) What day is your birthday, has it already passed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm Otis Fodder:

This is true and imho, close borders until we get a grip on things. We just got our numbers down here in Quebec but we were having some spikes for some time. Wishing hopeful for everyone, everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm Jan Turkenburg:

24th was my birthday, but I held a 'party' on my show yesterday.
Avatar 12:54pm Mr Fab:

2 ppl now at the store where I work have tested positive, so yeah...yankee go home...
Avatar 12:54pm Mayuko:

@Otis I support Canada's decision. DON'T LET US IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Avatar 12:57pm Bri The Beatnik:

Mr. Fab, r u Canadian too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57pm Otis Fodder:

There's still one door open. The door to our heart.
Avatar 12:57pm Mayuko:

@Jan Oh, then happy belated birthday to you!!!
Avatar 12:57pm Martinibomb:

@Mayuko here's a music video I made for Otis www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Otis Fodder:

Avatar 12:58pm Mr Fab:

No, I’m in LA. California’s numbers are spiking so I’m agreeing wCanada. Keep us diseased Yanks out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm Otis Fodder:

Yes! MB created that for/with us just over 10 years ago. All killer, no fillers.
Avatar 12:59pm Martinibomb:

@Mayuko and speaking of papercut.. I did this for the Dandy Warhols - in 24hrs papercutout style animation www.youtube.com...

Cool art MB!
Avatar 1:07pm Martinibomb:

Thanks Bri!
Avatar 1:07pm Bri The Beatnik:

Of course!
Avatar 1:08pm Mayuko:

@Martinibomb now I see, the way you use negative space and positive space is really similar to paper cutout indeed! I especially love the way you drew that helicopter at the end of the Bran Flakes video, it's really clever. Thanks for sharing these videos!
Avatar 1:10pm Bri The Beatnik:

Jason, someone should get a tape out and record you talking over the music about the COVID, it could be the next house dance floor filler, like little fluffy clouds!
Avatar 1:10pm Martinibomb:

Yep! that +- space is a fave visual trick I love
Avatar 1:10pm solo mon:

Ah I forgot about the bran flakes one! So cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:11pm joe:

PE's new track State of The Union STFU is well worth a listen or 100
Avatar 1:12pm Bri The Beatnik:

Back in the day when Rap was an art form
Avatar 1:13pm Jason Elbogen:

I will check it out, Joe. Think I recently read about it, didn't hear it yet.
Avatar 1:13pm Martinibomb:

@Mayuko that Bran Flakes video. I actually built an entire 3d paper set/characters - shot it/used it for the base/animatic. I might still have video of the real paper set it was worked out on
Avatar 1:14pm Bri The Beatnik:

Before some capitalists thought they could cash in on the fad and forever change the face of capitalism in America
Avatar 1:15pm Mr Fab:

I think some of those capitalists were the rappers themselves!
Avatar 1:16pm Bri The Beatnik:

They were Mr. Fab
Avatar 1:16pm Bri The Beatnik:

They still are
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:17pm joe:

There is still a lot of really good Hip Hop out there, Run The Jewels as an example of a big group that does really good stuff and puts a lot of effort into what they do
Avatar 1:17pm solo mon:

To be fair there is plenty of modern rap that is great too. Noname, Tierra whack, etc
Avatar 1:17pm Martinibomb:

Speaking of Capitalist rappers - anyone heard Nike/laika/travis knight's rap album? Chilly Tee? Produced by the bomb squad. i'm surprised WWR hasn't played any of it
Avatar 1:17pm solo mon:

Oh haha joe same
Avatar 1:18pm solo mon:

Omg chilly tee
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm joe:

@Martinibomb not familiar but if the Bomb Squad had anything to do with it I'm all over it.
Avatar 1:19pm Mayuko:

@Martinibomb ha! while I was watching I was actually wondering what it would have looked like if you really made them in paper. Would be really cool to see the behind-the-scene pics, must be really cute!
Avatar 1:19pm Bri The Beatnik:

Oh yeah, I’m not saying there isn’t any good rap out there.
Avatar 1:19pm Martinibomb:

hank shocklee produced it I'm sure he was paid well
Avatar 1:19pm Martinibomb:

the music is great
Avatar 1:20pm Martinibomb:

the raps.. are 18yr old white boy rolling around beaverton heheh
Avatar 1:20pm solo mon:

What I remember was the production on chilly tee was great. The raps, wellllll
Avatar 1:21pm Martinibomb:

gotta say props to Travis tho .. he probably put a biz plan together for it and got financing from investors etc..
Avatar 1:22pm Martinibomb:

doesn't seem like Jason has dropped out much recently... the streaming has been solid for a little while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:22pm joe:

The instrumental of his single. Yeah that's the Bomb Squad alright. www.youtube.com...
Avatar 1:23pm Martinibomb:

^Hey yeah maybe it's worth playing the instrumentals from this more often? hmmm
Avatar 1:24pm Bri The Beatnik:

Really good instrumentals! Very old school sounding!
Avatar 1:24pm Martinibomb:

that track sounds like something I'd play on my show
Avatar 1:37pm Martinibomb:

@Jason I have a ton of ideas to try out with your DJ system.. I'm excited to work with you
Avatar 1:37pm Jason Elbogen:

you can hear me?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm Thibault:

Press the button Jason, we can't hear you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Thibault:

we still can't hear you
Avatar 1:39pm solo mon:

I worked with Travis for a number of years, we were not allowed to discuss his rap career.
Avatar 1:39pm Bri The Beatnik:

I can hear you! Or at least the bedroom music
Avatar 1:40pm Bri The Beatnik:

I can’t hear you speaking though
Avatar 1:40pm Jason Elbogen:

really? damn.
Avatar 1:40pm Paper Kosmonaut:

Paper--It's brutal.

Yes, we’ve been working on Jason’s technical issues. This whole broadcasting-from-home malarkey is a brave new world.

@solo mon I just saw your comment about Travis. I have to chuckle. Things like that always amuse me.

@ Mr. Fab: (and all the from-home-broadcasters): Those people all are music heroes in their own right. I thrive by working at home and listening to them.

See the robots are trying to take over
Avatar 1:51pm Mr Fab:

Thanks for saying that, PK! So many stations are either just playing reruns, or DJs pre-record a show from home and send it in to the station. WFMU is very unique in having so many live-from-home shows.
