	4:13pm Webhamster Henry: @DD: It may predate the archives! in re: Quadraphonic: I have a quad Joe Cocker "8-track" (which is probably a 4 track) that I'm curious to find out what got put where. The modern equivalent of Quad is 5.1 audio, similarly more audio than one normally would want.

	🚂 4:21pm Carmichael: I have 5.1 surround. It works very well when done right, especially for movies. It's in the hands of the engineer, and fortunately I know a great one. More often it sounds kind of mushy.
	4:26pm TDK60: People have been advocating free transport here in NYC for a while, but the powers-that-be are not willing, yet... / I have an old quadrophonic version of Jefferson Airplane's Volunteers LP. It sounds awful in stereo, almost like a different recording.

	4:28pm fred: @David: I guess we're not Luxembourg (though there is a train stop by that name in Paris). The transit authority is threatening either a 25% rate hike or a lockout. I'd love free transit, but it won't happen here: the right hates public transit anyway

	4:30pm coelacanth∅: i've heard 5.1 systems that sounded excellent. and i've bought some 5.1 dvds primarily for the sound quality -even played through only 2 speakers. ..my last receiver was 5.1 compatible but i had no interest in setting it up. unfortunately this $3000.00 new (i got for $145. -speaking of privilege -the former owner's) sounded like shit without the whole set-up. no bass.
