Super love for that photo

Thanks, Gary! Taken somewhere in Luquillo, Puerto Rico in 1973 by photographer John Vachon. Part of the EPA's Documerica series, where I get most of my show photos.

Truly, truly tangential low-tier trivia: EHG Enterprises, at bottom of sign, back then one of the largest developers in Puerto Rico, was among those companies that sued Robert Vesco in the 70s. Vesco, known for BIG fraud schemes and being a Nixon contributor, too, commonly ID'd and described in headlines back in the day as "Fugitive Financier." Even years after his death -- though some thought his death was faked -- Slate.com in 2001 called him "the undisputed king of the fugitive financiers."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
Franco Twinkie:

Oh man, I want that so bad!
Avatar 10:21pm
TDK60:

Sam, nope still out there. They were overpowered recently by extra loud fireworks that oddly lasted for a month-plus. I've already made several complaints to the city phone line, but I don't expect results. Shit, in this neighborhood a few years ago, off-duty cops were caught terrorizing a family driving in car on a nearby highway. The cops were on motorcycles and cars and surrounded the family and scared the family on purpose.

I'm right there with you, TDK. Fireworks in my neighborhood have been a major pain this summer, although they seemed to have calmed down a bit post 4th.

SBP! You're going to send me down a Robert Vesco rabbit hole. This guy sounds fascinating.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm
Sam Segal:

Glad you're digging, Ike! Yeah, I feel like people kind of finished off most of their stash on the 4th, although perhaps they've had a chance to resupply this week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm
Sam Segal:

I've been sleeping with earplugs most nights these days. Had to have a 3 am conversation with some neighbors blasting music below my bedroom window on Sunday night/Monday morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm
Sam Segal:

This music was blaring out of their supercharged car stereo, sub-woofer in full effect, and no one was even outside, because it was raining. They just had it playing that loud so they could hear it in the garage where they were hanging out.
Avatar 10:43pm
TDK60:

That's pathetic Sam. Some folks are so moronic and unconcerned for others. I'm getting sick of it. Some folks don't know that this city (probably most places) have quiet hours, usually lasting from 10 PM to 7 AM. Not that people like you mention care about such.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:46pm
ParUbi:

They are lots of fun, intense
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:47pm
Sam Segal:

@TDK, it is cathartic to vent! They ended up turning the music down enough that I could hear it only slightly with my earplugs and two fans blasting at full speed. I considered that a victory!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm
Sam Segal:

If only your drag racers would stop long enough for you to have a brief conversation with them. I'm sure they'd change their ways!

I was surprised to hear such a broad dismissal of the two-set structure in that last mic break, especially under the guise of post-structuralism. I'll have to refer back to Difference and Repetition to see what it has to say about two-set equestrian freeform radio shows.

@wmbogart: From a Schizoanlytic perspective, as elucidated by Deleuze and Guttari, the two-set structure is simply a reductionist modification of the three-set structure. You'll see what I mean when you re-examine the text.

It looks like it’s been a nice set. The title makes for great music. Hope everyone is doing alright! I have been doing well, had an elective surgery and taking the summer classes I enrolled in. It’s always nice to see I was not a requirement for great success to be upheld.

Spirit was a typo I meant Spiro (not Spyro the purple dragon from Dreamcast and possibly PS2).

Having a neighbor who does eat brains not be your neighbor anymore is good. Lol

Still B/P- in much unintentional fashion I did not read any prior comments! My parents always tell me I’m too self-conscious, I’m probably becoming a little sun-conscious.

G'night doc. Hi all. Taxes filed with minutes to spare.

One of the several undesirable traits I share with my father (who is long long gone) is not getting taxes done 7ntil the last minute. Actually I've always send them in at the last minute. He was usually a month or so late. Nutso. One thing I miss with e-filing is the crazy scene at the main NYC post office the last few hours of filing day. Once went I was working late in the city on the day I went by just for the scene, even though had already filed.
