Hey, Scott!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:01pm Fuzzy:

Just in time -- howdy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm WR:

The stream was playing some hip tunes, the bar is pretty high. Just saying ...
Avatar 7:02pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Ralllly - ?!?
...Yes ! Really !
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:03pm Scott McDowell:

Hey everybody! welcome
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm WR:

Levels sound good to me. Mic & music.
  7:09pm Merlin Morris:

It all sounds good over the internet, Hi from Brisbane
  7:09pm Lore:

Levels sound good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm doctorjazz:

Sounding good (voice slightly louder than the music before the announcement, but slight)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm brainiac:

Hi Scott, I think if you get up on the mic, you'll need just a little more gain to be heard over the bed. Just a bit.
  7:10pm Jeff g. via app:

Let’s do this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:10pm WR:

I forgot that Yo Lo Tango Ira is doing weekly show. Haven't heard it yet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:11pm Scott McDowell:

Thanks allllll for the tech talk
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm chresti:

Sounds good Scott! Hello everyone at the rally!
  7:15pm CC:

Everything sounds real good here in North Texas!!!... I always like a tad of reverb on the mic but that's just me...:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm sphere:

Hey Scott. Bragged to Mr. Williams that I had a copy of his bed music until me gently pointed out that I had your bed music! Oops. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:19pm sphere:

*he
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm doctorjazz:

Basically, you're too loud, too quiet, and juuuuuust, right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Scott McDowell:

It has happened before @sphere. Worse people to be mixed up with. : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm Doug Schulkind:

Rallytastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm Aitch:

Should be more songs about cricket.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:37pm Doug Schulkind:

@Aitch
Here are 16 songs about cricket. All on one record! www.discogs.com...
  7:38pm Jeff g. via app:

Miles and Don sort up ended up in a similar place in the 80s, via parallel evolution.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:48pm Scott McDowell:

Sort of : )
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:49pm Little Danny:

Hi Scott, hi all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm Scott McDowell:

Hi Little Danny, thanks for stoppin by
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:00pm Aitch:

Thank you Doug, it looks to be a hidden gem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm coelacanth∅:

Good Evening Scott and all
Avatar 8:02pm βrian:

John Cage, of course, orchestrated the most memorable composition on cricket[s].
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm Little Danny:

YLT do good drone
Avatar 8:10pm βrian:

True dat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm coelacanth∅:

back in the day i made a 100-minute yo la tengo compilation cassette called "the feedbacky". the only challenge was what to leave off.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm Little Danny:

This reminds of the intro to "Expecting to Fly"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:15pm coelacanth∅:

(that track is "Georgia thinks..." but probably everyone knows this)
Avatar 8:19pm βrian:

@coel: Just did a quick kitchen survey: nope.
Avatar 8:20pm βrian:

... but dill won out over tarragon, if that matters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm Little Danny:

Doesn't dill win against almost all other herbs?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:34pm WR:

Dill with vinegar chaser overpowers most herbs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm WR:

Y'all drew me into that random herb chatter when I had picked up the phone to comment that I found LOL clever Scott's saying LD is the headliner tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm Little Danny:

I call it a co-billing. Font size stays the same.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm chresti:

Dill, don't need a lot, very strong. Tarragon, too something.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm Little Danny:

I can deal with a lotta dill. Only basil comes close in my world.
Avatar 8:43pm still b/p:

Coela with dill,
Coela with dill,
If he doesn't please ya,
No other fish will.

Earlier today when someone casualized the name to "coela," a version of that already hopped itself to mind quickly..kinda automatically. Now, with the herb introduced, well, the adaptation just had to...evolve.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:43pm chresti:

Both very distinctive. Basil wins.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm chresti:

Dill and capers with fish, I think.
  8:46pm Santos L Halper:

Wonderful show Scott, incl this. Thanks for the fresh YLT etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:49pm Scott McDowell:

Cheers!
Avatar 9:03pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes Thanks
  9:05pm Lore:

The first time I heard Fred Anderson, with William Parker & Hamid Drake at the 1999 Vision Festival, was such a revelation. Hadn't heard this lovely recording before, thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm Scott McDowell:

I wish I went to the Velvet Lounge when I had the chance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Little Danny:

Is the Velvet Lounge not a thing anymore?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Little Danny:

I happened in there completely oblivious some time in the late '90s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:12pm Little Danny:

Love early Getz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Scott McDowell:

It closed but I really mean "when Fred Anderson was there."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm Little Danny:

Ah yeah I'm reading about it now
Avatar 9:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Boppin' Getz! & as clean & precise as ever. What a band.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Scott McDowell:

So clean.
  9:33pm Mark R:

Scott, Great to hear you again. Always loved your show, it's nice to have you back, if only for one night.
Avatar 9:34pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Haden Cherry Blackwell
how incomparably kewl.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38pm doctorjazz:

Had too go for a bit, back for Haden and crew, very nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Little Danny:

Early Ornette Coleman composition
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm Little Danny:

Nicely recorded drums!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41pm doctorjazz:

Posted this once before, but I once caught Cherry and Blackwell at a dive bar on 3rd ave just off Bleeker. It was crowded, though most of the crowd was there to drink and hand 3 at their usual place. It was weird, but gym.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm doctorjazz:

(...hang out at their usual place...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Little Danny:

Classic docjazz autocorrect
Avatar 9:45pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Autoincorrect.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:45pm doctorjazz:

You'd think I'd be better at it (or at least proof read better) by now...nah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm doctorjazz:

(...it was weird but fun...end of 9:41 comment)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm coelacanth∅:

i thought it was "weird but good"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm doctorjazz:

I'll use yours, Coel.
  9:48pm Little Danny:

Well I did actually think it was weird but gym
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm doctorjazz:

Hahaha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm coelacanth∅:

haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Doug Schulkind:

Can't wait to hear the next Long Rally, wherever it may appear! Thanks, Scott!

COMING UP NEXT on the Drummer Stream, it's THE COOL BLUE FLAME with the beloved Little Danny.

THE COOL BLUE FUN HAPPENS HERE: wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm doctorjazz:

It was odd to be in a packed bar to see those 2, and almost nobody else was there for the same reason.
I once caught BassDrumBone in a similar divy bar in the theater district, but at least half the crowd WAS there to see them.
  9:51pm Little Danny:

Our man in Western PA. Thanks Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52pm coelacanth∅:

... i'm amused also that there was a whole conversation before
when i wasn't looking
about herbs, that somehow included me even though i know absolutely nothing about how it started or why i was mentioned
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Scott McDowell:

It's a cool story doctorjazz when you could just happen upon that in NYC.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:56pm doctorjazz:

Ornette on trumpet...i didn't actually think he could really play it..
Thanks, Scott!.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm coelacanth∅:

Thanks Scott!
don't be a stranger
Avatar 9:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

TY wonderful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:59pm chresti:

Thanks Scott! coel, haha, I jumped into herb talk.
