Seeing the Hi Rhythm section for the first time at one of the Ponderosa Stomps was a revelation. Those records sound so amazing and I had always though it was due to some special way they mic'd the drums or whatever, but then hearing them it was like: Oh, this is just what these guys sound like when they play, and Willie Mitchell simply had the skills to document it as it was.
