I am pleased? to report that the pervert I encountered in 1996 was not the NorCal Rapist, just some other creepy guy in a white SUV.
Avatar 3:24am
Fox:

For a few days, I thought it was possible, and I even wrote to a reporter, who told me to contact the prosecutor, but that dude was jacked, and the guy I encountered was a fat turd. So that's good? I guess?

You can post links to your story, Miss Fox, for people who may not know what you are referencing.

My story about this guy who is not the NorCal Rapist, but I briefly thought might have been: vimeo.com...

I don't have a working stereo, but I have bought records just to support artists. I currently have like, 7 records that I didn't get from my dad or find on junk night.

You have a noble heart, Miss Fox.
Avatar 3:39am

Eh. I think I just feel lame not supporting artists.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42am

i still haven't played any of the records i've won during wfmu fundraisers over the past 3 years because of such an unstable floor. nonetheless i bought a new (used) record 2 months ago...which i cannot afford either.
i just got more bubblewrap with hopes of creating a cushion enough to absorb all the vibrations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:43am

most of my artist support now is flac or wav files via bandcamp
Avatar 3:44am

I won a Swans record this year! I am a collector at heart, I've just been living below the poverty line for most of my adult life, so I have little in the way of worthwhile belongings.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44am

i think i tried to win that swans album!
Avatar 3:45am

I bought a record off of bandcamp last month! It was so exciting! I never did that before, and it's soooo pretty! I'm honestly still a bit afraid of records. My dad instilled in me a serious fear of fuckign with his records when I was a toddler. It stuck. I have a strange awe for them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49am
coelacanth∅:

my father sucked in some big ways but i guess he was alright about that. i wasn't allowed to use his stereo but sometimes he asked me to flip the record.
+ i think he must've known i used it all the time when they weren't home.

When I was in highschool and living with my dad, I had friends over, and he made me promise that when they came over I would put on Jimi Hendrix playing the Star Spangled Banner when they arrived. So I did. But I was so nervous touching his records.

but they (probably he) did awaken my musical passion at a very young age with the beatles, peter paul & mary, and Harry Belafonte.

My dad listened to a bunch of Johnny Cash and Bob Dylan, which I was grateful for... He got sick of me always wanting to listen to the Beatles in the car though.

My father (when I see him) knows I’m obsessed with music, so to make conversation he talks about Keith Richards. He hates all the bands I like, Black Sabbath sucks. He saw The Stooges in 1970. I asked what that was like. He said they sucked. I stopped taking home seriously after that...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59am

Rory i don't know if it's the same or not but my father seemed to have lost his great passion for music, along the way. he kept buying music, just to have it -but never listened to it. he would've claimed to love music right up to the end.

Mmmmmm. I miss smoked fish. I'm trying to get my shit settled down enough to eat smoked foods again. I can't eat anything smoked or canned. It's hard to be poor without canned food.

Are there any opinions about the shape of the vortex this evening?
Avatar 5:47am
wizard frog:

When I visited South Africa, I saw this store in a poorer area sold these 'combo sets' which was like a 6ft high stack of mainly canned food + detergent, all the essentials to last for 3 months it seemed - I guess the implication is that poorer people can't afford to go shopping for groceries every other day etc
Avatar 5:49am

Pleasantly chaotic Mr Bill Zebub :o)
Avatar 5:50am
Bill Zebub:

Thank you, Wizard Frog. We must obey chaos.
Avatar 5:53am

Wizard - Funny to me it's the opposite. I only get $189 in food stamps a month, and to make it last I would go to the green grocer every other day, because the veggies are cheap as hell, but on the verge of rotting, so you have to go every other day.
