Hello and Good Afternoon Matt and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm Hughie Considine:

Freddy Mercury's Live Aid performance was almost as good as this.
  3:04pm phat:

This goes without saying, but jesus The Ramones were great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Oh when The Saints came bashing in.
  3:05pm Elle Tor’s Husband:

Saints! Best band ever!
  3:05pm phat:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Chop Scott:

Cheers Matt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:07pm Mr. Pumpy:

Hey, Matt! Pleasant surprise. I'm going to have to stop my mid 80s thrash revival (currently Hirax) and dig in. Looks killer so far!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Hughie Considine:

I played "I-94" by Radio Birdman today to commemorate 94 days until Nov. 3.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Seeing The Ramones was such a distinct & powerful thrill. Collecting their records was like collecting The Beatles or Who then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm efd:

Hey Matt! Thank god you've thrown off the shackles of Joe Bonamassa and are bringing some rock 'n' roll to the people!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Matt Fiveash:

  3:13pm Steve Harsh:

Re: Armilite - I always thought it was "You set my arm alight"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Hughie Considine:

My bro called SLF the Irish Jam....similar.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:13pm Gaylord Fields:

@Matt: If you can't be reductive to your friends, who can you do it to (who won't beat you up, to be precise)?
  3:13pm E. Mo Gee:

Sounding great Matt! Hello all! Long live FMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Mr. Pumpy:

The progression right after the intro of that SLF song always calls to mind DEVO's Slap Your Mammy. Yes, it's a common chord progression...but there are other elements that bring my brain there. Anyone else? No? Okay...
  3:15pm P-90:

“The shackles of Joe Bonamassa” is trending
  3:16pm E. Mo Gee:

Saw the siblings of this band last year...Rough Francis...fantastic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm TomDash:

Hey Matt - a little late chiming in today from the shop. I was gonna request some RocknRoll Music - would that work today? Just checking...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Mr. Pumpy:

@P-90. After all these years you'd think Metal Mike and the GSA would have teamed up and co-sponsored the cookie, The Angry Samoans. What are they waiting for?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Matt Fiveash:

Tom- Probably not, but let me see what I can do
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Hughie Considine:

"Russell Crowe's Divorce Auction" was the opening act on the most recent Shackles of Joe Bonamassa tour.

What's the Frequency Bonamassa ?
Avatar 3:25pm Nutley Sam:

I came because I thought this was gonna be the other Matt
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Mr. Pumpy:

Night Flight episodes are now on Prime. Only 10 minute segments, but they are chock full of great music and art content. Anyone else used to come home all banged up on a Friday or Saturday night as a teenager in the 80s and throw that on on the USA network and just bug and zone out? Anyhow, I suggest it to all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm Matt Fiveash:

Sam, even I would have tuned in to this stupid station if I thought that were the case
Avatar 3:26pm Dave the Spazz:

Is there a creepier song than Pied Piper?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Matt Fiveash:

The only creepier song I can think of is by Don McLean and also has "Pie" in the title
Avatar 3:28pm Nutley Sam:

"Young Girl" is creepier
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

@Mr.Pumpy: Used to have to stay up inconvenient hours & mess your health to get the good stuff. ...Now with FMU I just mess it 24/7 ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm efd:

yeah, I was going to say anything by Gary Puckett (hi Sam!)
Avatar 3:29pm Nutley Sam:

Hey efd! And yes, I saw Gary Puckett not in his prime (as far as I could tell)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Fuzzy:

Yeah, "Young Girl" -- "Every Breath You Take" is another one.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Matt Fiveash:

Gary Puckett high on the "wish I had seen them way past their prime" list
Avatar 3:30pm Dave the Spazz:

I had tickets but didn’t see The Monkees on the Pier in ‘87 I think with Gary Puckett.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...before I die - deffo on my Puckett List....
  3:31pm phat:

That Pete Best tune that Michael Shelley played earlier was pretty creepy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Rev Rab...good point(s). I've been digging on it again...give it a look! First 4-5 episodes...Lou Reed, Bad Brains, Eno, BB King, Clapton, Kraftwerk, Bowie, Melle Mel, Scream, Fugazi. Interviews, live footage, videos, and all sorts of art pieces. Watch it at 2AM!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:34pm Mr. Pumpy:

@Nutley Sam...I did my growing up in Nutley, Nutley Sam. I liked it, mostly. Some ignoramuses I could have done without, but I guess that is the deal anywhere.
  3:34pm modern blaze:

i said the camel walk all over the world!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Matt Fiveash:

efd: for the record I am aware that the correct spelling is "Crispy Anne"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Gaylord Fields:

My favorite "huh?!?!" lyric is from Cornelius Bros. and Sister Rose's "Treat Her Like a Lady": "Strange as it seems/You know you can't treat a woman mean"

  4:04pm sufferwords:

What me worry?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Gaylord Fields:

One of the shames about "It's a Gas" is that it's not scored for the entire orchestra, if you know what I mean.

Great set today, Matt!!
Avatar 4:44pm Nutley Sam:

Nobody in particular, it was just a free outdoor show to go to and I didn't know who was gonna play. Headliner was Stevie Ray Vaughan, who was actually enjoyable in music-starved upstate NY, just for the novelty of playing Hendrix covers competently.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Simon & the Bar Sinisters paid a visit to the Cactus Club in Poughkeepsie one time. They were extremely loud, as I recall.

TheLoneliestMonk: well alright!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm TheLoneliestMonk:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm TheLoneliestMonk:

@MF he gets more work as a bass player the last couple years.
the gig tmrw is what he calls 'the rabble rousers', bar sinisters in the style of flat duo jets, just him and a drummer
  5:36pm kev:

I don't think I've ever heard Salem 66 on the radio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Matt Fiveash:

T.L.M.- I took a couple of bass lessons from Simon when I first started to play!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Matt Fiveash:

We're talking late '90s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:41pm TheLoneliestMonk:

  5:41pm Stinky:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Matt Fiveash:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Matt Fiveash:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm listener 126464:

Thanks Matt, FMU crew.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Michael in Montclair:

Great job filling in TOPT's shoes today Matt! In addition to providing me with sonic goodness from the usual suspects (e.g. AC/DC, Television, Yo La Tengo), you've exposed me to, and piqued my interest in, previously unfamiliar artists such as the Live Ones and Simon and the Bar Sinisters.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Matt Fiveash:

Hey thanks all. As Vera Lynn once said- shit what was it she said again? Anyway see you next time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm TomDash:
