Favoriting September 11, 2020: Peter Jaeger - 100,000 Hand-Drawn Questions from the Red Notebooks

100,000 Hand-Drawn Questions from the Red Notebooks

100,000 Hand-Drawn Questions from the Red Notebooks considers the interface between analogue, hand written text and that text’s reproduction via digital photography and video. The text has several constraints: it is all hand written; every sentence takes the form of an extemporized question; excerpts of these questions are drawn from a series of notebooks and photographed, and in this excerpt, they have been inserted into a video. Some of the questions are addressed to a first person “I”, while others are addressed to “we”, “you’ or “they”. The form of a question invites a response, thereby breaking down the 4th wall or barrier that separates question from answer, text from reader.
