In 30 minutes, "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8".
And in the second hour, "A Carousel Ride After Too Much Soup"

Depends on which one you mean

I always think it's going to make things simpler to bring out some old classics, but it's just as fully production-oriented. This week these are all remastered.

@Rich It's actually Sandra, whose slot I was subbing for at KOOP Austin. This is my second-ever broadcast there.

hello Ken in the present and from the halfway point of my life so far!

Miranda, you can add one to your life every moment
Avatar 3:23pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

(Miranda, which one are you listening to?)
  3:25pm
Mirandamirandamiranda:

I love how there are different sizes of one (1). The WTJU streamer wasn't working so I came to this star-filled page and am listening to the quarreling picture-taking people and the stock-buying optimist and pachabel's canon. It sez 2003?
Avatar 3:26pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

OK, so you're in hour 1, the WFMU GTDR version. Great, you don't have to miss anything!

Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I am listening to the radio and the two streams that are an hour apart from each other and my live mix that is 16 years delayed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm
Rich in Washington:

I would totally listen to a 24/7 KLERE stream, like that 24/7 Over The Edge stream.
Avatar 3:34pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I could start popping in the 1994-2002 cassette tapes!
Avatar 3:35pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I dread trying out my really excellent condition tape deck, because I haven't touched it in many years, which means the belt has to be warped from sitting in place the whole time.
Avatar 3:36pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

The second hour (Carousel Ride) is really fun, I hope you can be here for it (unless you already are)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:38pm
Rich in Washington:

I'm still needing to take my really good cassette player to the tape machine hospital to get all its belts replaced. I found a guy in my town who does excellent work and is really reasonable.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm
Rich in Washington:

I'm scared to play cassette live on the air, even though my currently installed tape deck is pretty good.
Avatar 3:39pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

If I get mine up, I've got no excuse to finally broadcast/computer-archive the 230 shows that are only on tape.
Avatar 3:40pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

The last straw for me in moving to home studio was the local station threw away their tape decks (and cart machines, although those hadn't probably worked in over 10 years)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm
chresti:

Love this part.
Avatar 3:41pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I exaggerate and of course treat the timeline like it's in my show archives. Non-sequential and overlapping.
Avatar 3:42pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@chresti Whew, this part makes me nervous, good to hear it's positive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm
Rich in Washington:

Our station similarly dropped its cassette decks in an ill-advised studio rebuild. The engineer in charge assumed no one was using cassettes without actually asking any DJs. They were in the process of begrudgingly re-installing one deck when the covid thing shut down station access.
Avatar 3:43pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Let's complain about radio on the radio (oh I've got to get live calls working)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:44pm
Rich in Washington:

When our station transitioned away from cart machines - and after those Denon CD decks meant to ape cart machines in appearance and function - they got one of those hard drive Instant Replay machines. It had all of KBOO's 30+ years of celebrity IDs, funny collages, sound effects, etc.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
Sem:

Along for a listen. Hello, Ken, the extravagant, the multi-layered, the bald.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm
Rich in Washington:

Then some smartypants made a hand rolled Windows spot player that doesn't work very well and in the process, someone lost all those classic spots.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:46pm
Rich in Washington:

Hi Sem!
Avatar 3:51pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Sem, welcome forward!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm
Sem:

Yo, RiW.

I traveled from the east coast of Canada to Vancouver Island, to help out a station transitioning from humans doing everything, to an 800 slot cart machine which was supposed to make them more money.
Oy. I lasted 10 months there, went home and doubled my dollars, because I was then "from away."
The only way to get a raise in the Maritime provinces.
Avatar 3:58pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

This moment is the most confusing of the whole thing. I'm like a multi-station commercial DJ before computerization of that and I have to announce two things at once while coordinating a few schedules and I think I'll make it through to 4:01pm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm
Rich in Washington:

You're a human radio station, Kenzo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm
Sem:

You're the man, Ken.
Avatar 4:01pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Smooth transition, no words were lost anywhere, I think I said goodbye in the right way and I hope it applies at 4:59pm!
Avatar 4:02pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Oh shoot I messed it up, arrrrgh
Avatar 4:04pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Never mind, I just utterly confused myself, sending coincidentally the beginning of hour 2's original source to nothing but my own local speakers while the same thing was playing but augmented with the 2020 content on GTDR coming from my phone, playing from the 1-hour tape delay, and the volume was too low and I was scared that meant that GTDR would get 4 minutes of low volume until I remembered that GTDR is getting my content from a FLAC I'm playing that was recorded an hour ago and ends when I just did my handoff
Avatar 4:05pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

ANYWAY, here we are, in the very delightful and only ever heard once before by me, A Carousel Ride after Too Much Soup
Avatar 4:07pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

It gets much more confusing when WTJU needs me to live-read an underwriting announcement, so I have to do some math and substitution so I don't send any of that to WFMU but I still keep on top of what the tape delay is up to so I can hand off between the hours and still fill up the time slot
Avatar 4:08pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I have apparently made no mistakes yet in this new experiment, except that the audio from the brand new "Regenerative Memory Feedback" two weeks ago got truncated two seconds early, ruining my graceful pop-music fade out, and I still can't figure out how I did that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm

Terrible (terror-ful) government/corporate apparatus going back decades and no signs of any improvements on the way.
Avatar 4:16pm

Probably just gathering up people to assist the minster with certain inquiries
Avatar 4:55pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Miranda, reasonable! It doesn't really fit; was chosen in haste because it's just the right size.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
Sem:

My ears are full as I push away from the audio banquet. Thx, Ken, hear you next time.
Avatar 4:56pm
Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Interesting how it fit so perfectly. 20 minutes before the broadcast, I was rapidly making edits to the 7/23/03 and 7/30/03 shows to remove excessive KOOP mentions, and then the three shows plus this scary edit added to end at exactly 4:00pm and I said goodbye and the next WTJU DJ transitioned. But uhhhhh yeah the way voting works in the US is REALLY SCARY
