Hi, Doug and yeah, lost too soon.
  5:20pm
ruth:

Yeah he was only in his 50's young when he died I think. It's crossed my mind a few times regarding people who died soon before the pandemic like John Giorno, Steve Dalechinsky and Kowald that maybe they were lucky to get outta Dodge before this BIG SHIT hit the fan. Not that we're not lucky to be alive I'd certainly rather be on this side of the great divide but the question keeps popping into my mind when I'm overcome with the suffering and horror of the Trumpian Deathstar we find ourselves stranded on...

Let's hope all are rescued from the T Deathstar before it self-destructs.

I saw Peter Kowald a day before he died. He once did a show w/ Toshio Kajiwara (trntblst), and I couldn’t tell who was making what sounds I had Peter’s memorial concert post concert framed in my Brooklyn apt.

I chatted once with Brötzmann at Vision Festival over a beer. The Full Blast show in Berkeley a few years later remains among one of the top three or four shows I've ever attended.

I find Brotzmann gentle and kind these days. Years back he was a judgmental crank. Maybe it was me?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm
david w:

And welcome, Dean!

northguineahills:

Kowald was one of the most amazing humans I hung out w/. I was just some dumb young kid and he still sat down and had a beer w/ me and chatted.
  5:52pm
Dean:

Kowald's reputation for being a terrific person preceded him, for sure. That's cool that you got to meet him, particularly at that point in time, ngh.

I've known judgmental cranks that mellowed out as they aged, maybe hormones have something to do with it?
  5:58pm
northguineahills:

Peter Brotzan, someone who literally busted a lung while blaring his sax. ...

Brotzmann....

I, for one, chresti, am evolving in the opposite direction.
