Welcome StringOFperils!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm
Gaylord Fields:

Fun Fact: Rodger Collins was WFMU DJ Rex's plumber back in the Bay Area!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm
Matt Clarke:

Everyone having a good week?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
Matt Clarke:

Wow that is a super cool tidbit, Sir Gaylord! Did Rex get a pipe signed?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Matt: Thanks in part to this Tuesday evening lineup, yes I am!
Avatar 6:18pm
Terre T:

Hi Gaylord!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm
Mike Sin:

@Gaylord -- How did that get revealed?!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm
StringOFperils:

The music definitely helps, Matt. Glad it's here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
Gaylord Fields:

Matt, I could just see poor Rodger going, "I'd love to answer your questions about Little Johnny Taylor, Jack Bedient, and Tom Fogerty, buddy, but right now I gotta snake your terlit."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm
Matt Clarke:

Glad you're all here, grooving with us
Avatar 6:21pm
Terre T:

@Gaylord haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Mike: If Rodger Collins was your plumber, wouldn't you tell anyone who you think might care?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm
Matt Clarke:

Hopefully Rex didn't pay him with one of his own 45s
Avatar 6:23pm
Terre T:

@Matt it’s because your show is packed with GROOVERS
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
Matt Clarke:

Cheers Terre T!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm
Matt Clarke:

Looks like some major storms in the tristate area. Be careful everyone in that area.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:24pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Matt: Haha! Fat chance of that happening. He probably offered Rodger a spare minor league ball cap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:28pm
Mike Sin:

@Gaylord -- I mean how did Rex find out it was him? Did Rex recognize him? Was his name on the business card or such?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm
Gaylord Fields:

I see now, Mike: Well, knowing Rex, he may have chosen Rodger because he was the soul singer!
Avatar 6:30pm
Terre T:

Looked up Rodger Collins on Wiki and hey it checks out :)
“ He largely retired from performing in 1974, later establishing an appliance repair business in Oakland. He also set up Garden Tree Music to release his own recordings”
Avatar 6:30pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

Shaking hands in real life isn't that recommendable - but I'll shake your hands here you fine folks: Hey Matt, Mike; DA the DJ, spodiodi, Terre T, Gaylord, StringOFperils (or should I say, PLUMBER) and you who I might have forgotten.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm
Matt Clarke:

Hey Photocopy Cha Cha! How are things across the pond?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm
Gaylord Fields:

Terre, that is too cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:34pm
Matt Clarke:

Really cool, Terre!
Avatar 6:35pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:32 Matt Clarke: I'm alright, no problems really. You guys OK over there? A pity this show's duration has not hit the two hour mark yet - but I gotta say the new one, Inner Ear Freakout follows this one rather nicely and keeps the vibes going.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm
StringOFperils:

@PhotocopyC2000: Ha ha ha...yes, the recurring plumbing theme...must be something in the water.
  6:35pm
Woo:

I wanna testify that I have been listening to WFMU since 6 AM. With a few minutes off here and there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm

Inner Ear Freakout with Daisy Lacy coming up right after this!

Parliaments ...
Plainfield NJ
reprazent!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm
Gaylord Fields:

I wonder why Rodger Collins didn't return the favor to Wilson Pickett and cover "You Left the Water Running" — it would have been a good fit.
  6:42pm
wendy del formaggio:

Matt! So nice to hear your voice. ❤️
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm
Matt Clarke:

Hi Wendy!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Gaylord Fields:

Matt! You chose the best track on the Hugo & Osvaldo–free version of the group! And yes, I know about the reissue. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm
Agent Double-O Soaked:

DIY plumbing. Don't try it at home kids. And, if in Oakland, call Rodger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
Matt Clarke:

Gaylord, I was just going to ask you if you knew that song. Glad we communicate telepathically
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm
Matt Clarke:

Hey Agent Double-O Soaked!

this Searchers tune, I didn't know it!
Avatar 6:49pm
Terre T:

@Gaylord - your cleverness zips by so fast... I just got yr Rodger should’ve covered “ You Left the Water Running" one liner
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm
Matt Clarke:

Hey Dan! How ya doin?
Avatar 6:50pm
Dan McNabb:

Hi Matt! All things considered... no complaints!

Woo:

That baby is around 52 or 53 now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm
StringOFperils:

Oddly I've heard The Fall's version of Popcorn Double Feature many times, while the Searchers' version....maybe twice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm
Gaylord Fields:

@Terre: I'm a silly man.
Avatar 6:52pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

I gotta admit this is the first time ever I have heard The Searchers' Popcorn Double Feature - I am more used to The Fall version, which is funny when comparing the two different approaches to the melody (Mark E. Smith had quite interesting approach to vocal melodies to say the least, as another example their cover of "I can hear the grass grow".)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
Matt Clarke:

I am totally ignorant of the Fall's discography, will check it out now!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm
Matt Clarke:

Happy Summer 2020 everyone! Have a ball, get some sun and see you next week!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm
Matt Clarke:

Thanks everyone for being with us tonite
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm
StringOFperils:

Woof Moo thankfully trots out the incunabula of pop music...for those of us working our way backwards and sideways thru music history...not unlike what Mark E. Smith was doing himself
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm
Mike Sin:

Thanks everybody for tuning in tonight!
Avatar 6:55pm
Terre T:

Great sign off + show guys!
Mike where in the world ru going with respect to Covid?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm
Matt Clarke:

@Miles: That starts next week
Avatar 6:57pm
Photocopy Cha Cha 2000:

@6:54 Matt Clarke: MArk E. Smith was self-admittedly a "when in doubt, shout"-type of vocalist :) Happy sonic adventures with The Fall back catalogue.
@6:56 Miles: @6:56 Matt Clarke: what? wasn't his show yesterday?
Thanks Matt & Mike and happeners
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm
