oh... I wonder what Jan has planned for today?

Jan Turkenburg:

Hi Darryl, I was thinking of playing Frank Zappa's Shut up and play yer guitar for two hours, but I changed my mind, last minute
Avatar 12:00pm

I'm glad you changed your mind :-)

So here we go! Live from the Valley of Bricks! :-)

Jan - Totally for FDL, I would love that. You could say that, I would be 'zapped' after listening. ;)
Avatar 12:15pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Yes, Monday is really starting to fill out now with Frame Duggy before Cannibal. Once that mid-day slot between Roulette and Lori is filled, Mon-Fri have solid blocks... and soon Don Bolles will have another glam show on Saturday. Sheena's is on fire.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, isn't it fabulous!!!
Avatar 12:17pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Really exciting, yes. Only problem I have is I still don't have that watch that can stop time like in that Twilight Zone episode. Once I have that, my radio listening time will soar by leaps and bounds.

Hello, Jan, Oats?is, mBomb, WWR, LizardNR and/or etc etc etc
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm

Yes, I used to have a portal to a different universe where time goed by slower, but it's had been in the shop for repairs. It's taking them ages...
Avatar 12:21pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Howdy Hey SoP, nice day in MTL, how's TO treating ya?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hi StringOFperils! Long time no see!
Avatar 12:23pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Oh wow, that portal never worked as it should. The portal took a whole bag of plums on my last visit. I had no idea plum portals existed. Since that time I have taken the train.

Nice cooler day here in Toronto today. Interesting being asked about Toronto. If I get into it, it'll probably turn into an essay on the demise of western civilization, so I won't. I suspect that Montreal is a much healthier place to be.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31pm
StringOFperils:

Jan, I was out of town for a week, by a lake. Then I came back and sent my cat off to cat Valhalla, so that took some time too. I think I also need to take a break from WFMU stream surfing as a way of coping. Needed to be outside as much as possible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I completely understand that SOP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Jan Turkenburg:

You can't be plugged in all the time. unplugged time is important time.

If you cpuld only understand Dutch for this song, SOP. It's so appropriate in relation to what you're saying.
Avatar 12:38pm
worldsworstrecords:

I'm guessing it's Bells and Banjos?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
StringOFperils:

Oh, thanks Darryl. It was sad, the cat's departure, but she was old, and it was time. And I'm getting over it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Haha, it's about relaxing (with a certain kind of sigaret, ok...) taking a break from the fast lane, learning the ways of the cats and the birds...
Avatar 12:40pm

It's never easy though, saying goodbye to a loved soul
Avatar 12:41pm

How old was your cat SoP? Bunjee here is nearing 17. Sending my best.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm

I lost 2 cats last year was very depressing. I feel for you SOP. Yes is hard but also it gets better
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I forgot, SOP, sorry to hear about your cat. From our four pets I have one grumpy red cat left. I mustn't think about it yet....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
StringOFperils:

Wow! Bunjee's getting up there! Georgia was 15. Her kidneys had been gradually failing for quite some time. Apparently it's the ailment that takes out the majority of felines.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm
StringOFperils:

But enough of the sombre stuff; I'm bringing down the room!
Avatar 12:46pm

most of my cats have reached a ripe old age: I've had them live to 20, 21 years old
  12:47pm
Martinibomb:

I hate losing animals but at the same time grateful I had them in my life.
Avatar 12:47pm
Oatsa Fodda:

I still have tags from 1 dog and 2 cats here that passed. It's nice to think about our loved ones.

Absolutely MB... couldn't agree more
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:48pm

Yeah I am willing to talk about dead pets all day xoxo stop me please but I will say one last thing: if they are 15 or over, they had a great life and you were a wonderful owner!

Great music to work by here Jan.
Avatar 12:48pm

Maharadja translates to Great King or Ruler. So this as well, goes for Cats. They own everything, like the cat on Red Dwarf... this is mine and this is mine and oh yes, this is MINE!
Avatar 12:51pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Nothing will remain after you feed the cat the wet food.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:54pm

One of the guys from Red Dwarf is a DJ (some of the time) on the BBC.
Avatar 12:55pm

  12:56pm

I like the Craig Charles show he's a pretty fun DJ personality
  12:56pm
Martinibomb:

and I LOVE Red Dwarf. Probably rewatch it way tooo much
Avatar 12:56pm
Oatsa Fodda:

I should really dig into BBC programming. I do listen to a bit of Resonance.fm alongside FMU.
  12:57pm
Martinibomb:

@oatsa have you never watched Red Dwarf?
Avatar 12:58pm
Oatsa Fodda:

BBC radio that is, to dig in more to. Freak Zone I do like.

MB - Oh yes, 3 times all the way through, used to have it on DVD before I purged years back. Ha, see above... the cat! Haaaaa. Love it.
Avatar 1:00pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Last time I binged on Red Dwarf was in.. 2007-ish. I remember, it was right before moving to Montreal and I was living in the Polish area on Roncesvalles in Toronto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm
StringOFperils:

I used to live around there too a long time ago...1990s. Roncesvalles.
Avatar 1:02pm
Oatsa Fodda:

For UK current radio... Trunk's show on Resonance is a weekly fav alongside Maconie's Freak Zone on BBC6.
Avatar 1:03pm
Oatsa Fodda:

SoP - 2006-2008 was my time in Toronto, moving from the states.
Avatar 1:03pm
worldsworstrecords:

It's nothing like as good as it used to be... the 2009 reboot - Back to Earth, wasn't very good and the three series since that haven't had the same energy as the original, pre-1999 series. I think a lot of that is down to Rob Grant legging it
Avatar 1:06pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Wow, have not caught anything RD past 1999, should I venture into that abyss?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm
StringOFperils:

Montreal. Good choice! If I weren't in a longstanding relationship, that's where I'd 'leg it' !
Avatar 1:07pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Not a completist in any way with listening or viewing. But if there is a recommended Red Dwarf reboot to dig into do let me know MB/WWR, thanks!
Avatar 1:08pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Well, if you ever leg it over a province, look me up SoP. 2 meter coffee or tea distance drinking on a patio is on!
Avatar 1:11pm
worldsworstrecords:

The 90-minute made-for-TV feature, Red Dwarf: The Promised Land which aired here in the UK earlier this year wasn't bad... and there's just been a three-part documentary on the whole 13 seasons
Avatar 1:14pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Cool, thanks D!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14pm
StringOFperils:

Wow, I had no idea that Red Dwarf had that much of a following! And thanks Otis, if I'm ever in the neighbourhood, I'll mask up and and say mmmphfhh mmmfph (*hi!)
Avatar 1:16pm
Oatsa Fodda:

Yes, SoP.. and if you visit with your better half... my better half and I will be happy to smile under colorful masks as we walk about... Farmer's Market at Jean Talon is always great and outdoors to say hello and buy some peaches.
