A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Mr Fab:

Got this rekkid as a kid. Pretty disjointed - rockin instros (like this one), mellow Frippertronics, guest vocals, sampled vox...Doesn't' really gel as an album, but individual tracks are super cool

I had a wonderful time at the Vancouver goodwill bins Rich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
Rich in Washington:

The bins can be fun. My sweetie refuses to go with me, so I usually go diving alone.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:57pm
Pet or Meat?:

I gotta say, it was a little too too yucky for me, I was skeezed out and left in 3 minutes. But the Couve does have the best T mobile store in 4 counties.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:59pm
Rich in Washington:

The bins can be surreal. People just sort of stand there and then an alarm goes off and it's like zombies attacking fresh meat being wheeled in.
Avatar 8:00pm
Poison Meat Poison:

I'm crazy for the bins
Avatar 8:01pm
Poison Meat Poison:

Humans turning into goats
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm
Pet or Meat?:

I used to do the bins every morning when it was in southeast. Made a bit of money that way, but you had to be brutal in order to win. It’s like lord of the flies, but with adults. And instead of a conch it’s a pucci nightgown
Avatar 8:03pm
Poison Meat Poison:

The bins is currently my bread and butter. Los Angeles has the friendliest bins I've been too, none are so cutthroat as St Paul Minnesota and it's full fledged shoe mafia

Workin arse off rich, taking some time off next week
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:03pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm
Pet or Meat?:

Lol shoe mafia! I’ve had beat downs w old women cuz I found one shoe and they found the other in a pile lollll
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04pm
Rich in Washington:

I tried going fairly regularly on my way home from work for a while, strictly looking for LPs. I would every time see the same older man with an armful or two of records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05pm
Pet or Meat?:

ARB we need to talk.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
Aitch:

Wild show Rich.
Avatar 8:06pm
Poison Meat Poison:

Here's the shoe mafia rundown: A handle of people get one of every single shoe. Then when you find one shoe you like in the bins you have to find the other shoe on the perimeter where they are all being displayed under guard, then you have to negotiate a price for it, then you have to buy it again by weight.
Avatar 8:07pm
Poison Meat Poison:

I DJd the bins once, it was my dream and i tried way to hard to make it a reality
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Pet or Meat?:

Thrifting ya the bins it’s a whole subculture habitat and hierarchy is fascinating the hard thing so far is getting around all the licensing it’s not compelling if we can’t reference real life items
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Pet or Meat?:

See that has to be in the film ARB
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09pm
Pet or Meat?:

OMGX arb u djed the bins??????????

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh, I remember you telling me that, Poison Meat Poison! That's a dream of mine - or a thrift store. I once thought about approaching our local Value Village, as it seemed like something they'd go for, but I never did.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:10pm

My friends band played burgerville one time
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:11pm
Rich in Washington:

Oh wow. The Hawthorne one?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
Rich in Washington:

MY friend's band played that one. Is that something they did often?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12pm
Pet or Meat?:

It was funny they had a song titled “shit sandwich” and they couldn’t swear at a burgerville event so they changed the lyrics to “take another bite of this burgerville sandwich” hahahahaha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm
Pet or Meat?:

Yes rich! I think they were trying to make it a thing but the acoustics in a burgerville are less than ideal much less
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14pm
Pet or Meat?:

RIP Value Village :-(
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm
Pet or Meat?:

I’m trying to think of the weirdest place I’ve djed
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm
Pet or Meat?:

Nothing comes close to the bins
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm
Rich in Washington:

My favorite was DJing the rummage sale at The Eagles Lodge on Hawthorne. All records had to come from the sale. We did sneak in a few ringers to prime the pump, so to speak.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17pm
Rich in Washington:

No, the bins win, hands down. So cool and meta.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
Rich in Washington:

I think we should do something like that here if things ever return to somewhat normal. Like maybe the Twilight Rummage Sale if it ever happens again. We can have people outside of portland join us via stream.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm
Pet or Meat?:

I love that rich
Avatar 8:22pm
Poison Meat Poison:

Haha thanks, last minute i got really nervous that i was hipsterizing the bins but everyone loved it and i took requests. The music they pump in is so awful and repetitive (the whole reason for the season was wanting to do something about the terrible music in there since I'm there so often) that everyone digging was overjoyed for something else. Now i just never forget my headphones when i go.
Avatar 8:23pm
Poison Meat Poison:

I love the Burgerville set with adjusted lyrics, so good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm
Pet or Meat?:

There’s music at the LA bins?? OOh lala
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:24pm
Pet or Meat?:

Mm now I want a burgerville sandwich
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
Rich in Washington:

Me too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm
Pet or Meat?:

That’s a real sweet story, poison
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:26pm
Pet or Meat?:

I’ve added headphones to the keys wallet phone mantra. Other music is distracting. And my big can headphones say “not available” to anyone on the street that can’t tell otherwise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm
Pet or Meat?:

Loving your selections as always Rich!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:28pm

Thanks, Poison Meat Poison!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm
Rich in Washington:

I really like this. It reminds me of early Severed Heads.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29pm
Pet or Meat?:

Aha sometimes I don’t play music either. I just like barriers. Don’t talk to me. Etc
Avatar 8:29pm
Poison Meat Poison:

I'm in public listening on headphones right now. It's not dissuaying any chewing gum sellers though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:30pm
Pet or Meat?:

Yeah severed heads totally. Also for me there’s nothing more edifying than the look I get to give strangers who I have to take my phones off for. Haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:31pm
Pet or Meat?:

Darn and I’m all out of chewing gum.
