Hi Darren and peepo!

Yo Darren!

I went out with a guy who wrestled in high school and maybe college--I remember him telling me about a skin condition he caught on the mat

Question for Chris Gethard: which old school pro wrestler had the best video conferencing setup?

some of the After DSOTR S2 episodes included people who were surprisingly available to talk over video from their homes.
  6:06pm
Jett:

A big old school pro wrestling fan, Ric Flair and Four Horsemen 4 life!

Hi fellas. The Capitol Theatre in Passaic used to hold WWF matches. I saw Ivan Putski wrestle there, among other.

Isn't it something that just about every TV series has a wrestling episode? I can think of The Munsters and Futurama just off the top of my head.
  6:13pm
BH:

is it probably still too soon for a modern day truck driver to become the head of Janela Personal Security?

I suck at arm wrestling. that's all yer gonna get from me

Hello, Jabronis! Don't know what a "jabroni" is? Now you can look it up in the dictionary! Thanks Iron Sheik!

BH:

Brock doing a SSP and messing it up was a pretty big reality check for anybody who had dreams of The Giant ever doing a moonsault on TV.

Also, Lesnar not having a neck probably helped him after he botched the SSP
  6:17pm
Jett:

I preferred the Steiner Recliner by Scott Steiner. My favorite finisher was the figure four leglock.
  6:17pm
annette:

wonder when I view a clip of high school wrestlers on the local news...does ones concentration wane if the opponent farts
  6:18pm
Jett:

Brock Lesnar is also a big favorite.

When I was 10 in 1986 I saw Abdullah the Butcher wrestle at an Illinois county fair. Lots of blood and head-bashings from giant metal oil drum-sized trash cans. The best.
  6:25pm
Jett:

Does Abdullah The Butcher still operate a restaurant?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm
Ken From Hyde Park:

Oh yeah, there was a South Park episode as well.

Baron Michel Scicluna used to drive a truck delivering the New York Times.

@Jett, whoa...Baron Michel Scicluna..."From the isle of Malta..." I remember the announcement to this day...
  6:39pm
BH:

it's possible that the WWF really overestimated how long the Gulf War would last because they kept that feud going for 5 months after the war ended
  6:39pm

...from the isle of Malta!!!!

deborah:

@Jett. Listen to Uncle Floyd, at times. No way that station can rival WFMU. It went to hell with its Retro Radio format and threw some of the best hosts off the air.
  6:41pm
Jett:

@deborah I agree with you on that station 100 per cent. I still listen to Uncle Floyd and Ghosty though.
  6:43pm
Jett:

@deborah I loved a lot of the deejays that were thrown off, like Christine Vitale, Richard Sibello, and many others.
  6:45pm
BH:

"okay, get all of the kids out of the ballpit, the wrestlers wanna fight in there"

Yes! AMazed that Ron Olesko and Traditions can still hold on. He is the only one left, I think.
  6:46pm
Jett:

True, @deborah Lucky for him he is on the weekends or else he'd be gone also.
  6:47pm
Jett:

I'm under the impression you have good musical taste @deborah.

@ Jett Think Olesko, like John Platt on WFUV, could get a show on other stations. He hosts the Folk Music Notebook, a Facebook page.
  6:50pm
Jett:

I liked listening to Lise Avery on that station also. Do you remember her show? @deborah
  6:53pm
Jett:

How about the Grand Wizard of pro wrestling!!!

Evan:

Just want to jump in and say what’s up Gethard!!! You da man!! Beautiful anonymous is so moving. Love ya dude stay healthy
Avatar 6:54pm
deborah:

Yes. She reminds me of Delphine Blue who is one of the best on WFUV which has also undergone major format changes. If you like Lise Avery, try Paul Cavalconte on WNYC and WFUV. I might get thrown off for talking about other stations.

I've listened to Cavolcante, he's interesting. When I do my radio show on another station people compare me to many other great deejays from these stations, I play all genres @deborah
