Kind of like taking your parents record collection and getting drunk in a Radio Shack. Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues, Garage Punk, Regular Punk and Old-Fashioned Weirdos. Hopefully you have the patience for this fast-paced sonic impatience. Not recommended for the fan of 4 minute songs.

When i was a young 'un, i only knew this version. Didn't hear the Sabbath orig til years later. i didn't know much about "classic rock."

I just know that this guy shoved pencils into the speakers of his amp.

Mailman Tom:

@Mr. Fab. You didn't miss much. Black Sabbath sucked live. Wish I had gone to see the Dickies instead.
Avatar 2:14pm
Mr Fab:

Ha, yeah saw The Dickies live several times. Not on purpose, they just always seemed to open for everyone: X, Pil, etc. Always a good time, esp when the "Stewart" phallus-puppet would show up to "sing."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
Franco Twinkie:

I didn't see Black Sabbath, but I did see The Dickies at The Whisky in 1978. VOM opened the show. A band made up entirely of rock critics. The drummer had a bath towel folded neatly on top of his head.

I adore VOM.

VOM was very good.

I think VOM's Richard Meltzer is currently living in Portland, but I am not sure. I know he was. I made a feeble attempt years ago to get in touch with him and see if he'd want to guest on my radio show.

Oh yeah. I've had Smegma's Oblivia on my show and Ju Suk Reate Meate was there. I had plans to have them both on in the pre-Covid days but we just never got around to it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
Franco Twinkie:

I really like Richard Meltzer a lot. I saw him read with the toast of the L.A. punk scene in a church by MacArthur Park. He was so far ahead of everybody in that bunch.
