Agree about the Coens. Just watched "Hudsucker Proxy" on PBS a few weeks ago...their attempt at a screwball comedy, with fast-paced dialogue, tough dames, etc. One of the worst movies I've ever seen. They're more concerned w/style and camera tricks than creating characters you care about or are interested in....most of the time. That said, I liked "Lebowski," thought it was funny, partly due to Bridges' performance (it's been awhile since I've seen it though) & loved "Fargo", liked some others. But yes, their track record, to put it mildly, is mixed. (And then Bridges was so unintelligible in their "True Grit" remake they should have had subtitles.) That '60s folk music film was their usual mix of nihilism and ridicule too.

phat, that's my favorite thing in instrumental breaks, where it almost breaks down but not quite. Like how low can let the RPMs go in second gear and not stall out.
