The Mamas and The Papas | Got a Feelin’ | Monterey International Pop Festival | LP | The most psyche cover art I could find by the Mamas and Papas was on the back cover this LP as shown. | 0:05:46 (Pop-up)
King Family | Who Would Remember | Easter Special in 1968 | Other | I don’t know which album by the King Family that Jello is referring to, but I found this odd and eerie piece online. Check out the footage on youtube! | 0:09:28 (Pop-up)
Homer and Jethro | Hillbilly Hippie | There’s Nothing Like an Old Hippie | LP | 0:12:10 (Pop-up)
Homer and Jethro | i crept into the crypt and cried | There's Nothing Like an Old Hippie | LP | 0:14:15 (Pop-up)

(Bonus Track) Hans Wurman | Waltz in D-Flat, Op. 64, No. 1 (“Minute”) | Chopin A La Moog-with lots of strings attached | LP | Another artist going long hair according to the record cover, because we all know hippies were into moog music. - Your DJ | 0:21:07 (Pop-up)
Tennessee Ernie Ford | Catfish Boogie | 16 Tons | MP3 | "In a similar way in the past, the record industry had gotten singers like Tennessee Ernie Ford to do rhythm ’n’ blues songs but strip away the sexual innuendo, so that songs like “Catfish Boogie” and “Blackberry Boogie” really would be about fishing or picking blackberries!” - Jello Biafra pg. 22 | 0:22:45 (Pop-up)
Tennessee Ernie Ford | Blackberry Boogie | 16 Tons | MP3 | These lyrics still sound pretty suggestive... | 0:24:43 (Pop-up)
Fire And Ice, Ltd. | I Just Thought Of The Moon | The Happening | LP | "Basically, through two sides of a major label album some people try to do a beatnik vocal jam and fall flat on their faces. This is the sort of thing I would have expected from Crown, not Capitol.” Jello Biafra - pg. 22 | 0:28:01 (Pop-up)
Fire And Ice, Ltd. | Summertime | The Happening | Had to flip the record over | 0:33:49 (Pop-up)
The California Poppy Pickers | Hair | Hair-Aquarius | 0:39:27 (Pop-up)

John Bunyan’s Progressive Pilgrims | Mozart's Dilemma (Moog'-ified) | Apricot Brandy & Albatross | “The Sound That Sent the Pilgrims on a Trip” | 0:55:34 (Pop-up)
John Bunyan’s Progressive Pilgrims | Spaced Out | Apricot Brandy & Albatross | LP | 1:00:36 (Pop-up)
101 Strings | Flameout | Astro Sounds From Beyond the Year 2000 | The most iconic track! | 1:04:34 (Pop-up)
101 Strings | Love At First Sight | The Sounds of Love | ...oh brother | 1:07:12 (Pop-up)
(bonus track) 101 Strings | Wonderful Seasons Of Love | The Sounds of Love | 1:10:14 (Pop-up)
(Bonus Track) 101 Strings | Karma Sitar | Sounds of Today | Originally (?) found on the 101 Strings “Sounds of Today” LP in 1967. In 1970, an “adult” version with moans turned up re-packaged on the 101-Strings - Exotic Sounds Of Love LP. In 1972, the original version appeared as the b-side to the 101-Strings “porno” single “I Remember.” This track was also used as a bonus track on the 1996 re-issue of “Astro-Sounds.” | 1:13:20 (Pop-up)
Strings For Young Lovers | Do You Know The Way To San Jose | The Young Sound '68 | This is one of the most common of the budget label pseudo-psyche LPs | 1:16:43 (Pop-up)
Strings For Young Lovers | Mac Arthur Park | The Young Sound '68 | Luckily I have two to play off each other, Like the Hair-Aquarius LP :) | 1:19:58 (Pop-up)
The Animated Egg | Sure Listic | The Young Sound '68 | LP | Enter songs by "The Animated Egg" on these LPs. Along with the specific tracks that Biafra mentions, I'll also be playing each time an Animated Egg track appears on these budget psyche records. But will give you a mix of what else is on them as well. There may be a repeat or two. | 1:26:49 (Pop-up)
The Animated Egg | I Said, She Said, Ah Cid | The Young Sound '68 | 1:28:36 (Pop-up)
The Young Sound of ’68 (Actually, The Hollywood Soundstage Chorus) | Home on the Range | Songs of the Golden West | One of the greatest crimes of the Somerset label, is that they slapped the cover of The Young Sound ’68 on a another record that has nothing to do with it. You turn it over to the back cover, you find out that it’s actually a record by “The Hollywood Soundstage Chorus“ with “Songs of the Golden West and Songs of the Deep South, and so people thinking were getting “Out of Sight Hits For The Now People, are ironically treated to songs like “Old Folks at Home”, “Dixie” and “Home on the Range”. Always look carefully at what you’re getting from deceptive budget LPs. | 1:30:56 (Pop-up)
Orange Groove | Crystal Blue Persuasion | Crystal Blue Persuasion and Other Sounds of Today | 1:33:16 (Pop-up)
Uncredited (The Animated Egg) | A Bad Trip Back to ’69 | Crystal Blue Persuasion and Other Sounds of Today | This sounds like the 101 Strings version | 1:36:24 (Pop-up)
Orange Groove | Street King | Crystal Blue Persuasion and Other Sounds of Today | LP | 1:38:41 (Pop-up)
The Now Generation (actually: Paul Griffin) | Frankie And Johnny | Sock It To Me! | NO Animated Egg on this record. This track is also found on the Young Sound ’68 LP credited to “The Mustang.” It’s also on the Block Busters LP credited as “The Young Sound of Today” etc. | 1:42:16 (Pop-up)
The Now Generation (actually: Paul Griffin aka “The Mustang”) | Sockerina | Sock it To Me! | This track is also found on the Orange Groove - Crystal Blue Persuasion LP, uncredited. With the couple of “sock” titles on this LP, it's strange that they didn’t include Animated Egg’s “Sock It My Way.” | 1:44:49 (Pop-up)
The Now Generation (actually: Little Joe Curtis) | Mercy, Mercy on Me | Sock it To Me! | A re-packaging of the Little Joe Curtis song “Have Mercy on Me?” originally found on the Somerset/ Stereo Fidelity LP “Here Comes Some Soul From Otis Redding And Little Joe Curtis”, as brought up on the previous episode on budget labels. | 1:47:54 (Pop-up)
The Now Generation (Actually: Paul Griffin aka “The Mustang”) | Down Home Baby | Sock it To Me! | As also found on the Crystal Blue Persuasion and Other Sounds of Today LP, uncredited | 1:50:38 (Pop-up)
The Young Sound of Today (Real Artist: The Animated Egg) | Sure Listic | Block Busters | Upon comparison, this record has the exact track list as The Young Sound '68. This song became “Space Odyssey” on Astro Sounds. | 1:53:08 (Pop-up)
101 Strings | Space Odyssey | Astro Sounds From Beyond the Year 2000 | 1:54:53 (Pop-up)
The Young Sound of Today (Real Artist: Little Joe Curtis) | Mini Skirt | Block Busters | Track also found on The Young Sound '68 and on the Somerset/ Stereo Fidelity LPS “Here Comes Some Soul From Otis Redding And Little Joe Curtis”, as brought up on the previous budget label episode. I wanted to play this track then, but saved it till now to show the ridiculousness of these records. I just now realized though, that the sound is bad on this one, like they tried to take out his voice. huh, oh well... I'll play the better version of it next time :) | 1:57:31 (Pop-up) |
