Musical theater from off the beaten path. Obscure and unusual show tunes from within the canon and without, flops, failures, and the newest works from up-and-coming artists—plus tried-and-true hits. Also, occasional appearances from songs that are not show tunes (but only if they go really well with show tunes).

It is so important to play songs from terrible musicals. Thank you for taking on this critical work!

Little me was obsessed with it (I now recognize its inferiority to The Nightmare Before Christmas)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm

My kids were heavily into Nightmare and they and a friend of theres were Lock Shock & Barrel for about 5 months. Every day. Costumes. Props. Singing. Homemade stuffed dolls.
I built Ray an exellent Oogie Boogie costume.

I knew High Society as a movie, and it never occurred to me that it had been a play. Oops.
Avatar 8:02pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

That is amazing!! Oogie Boogie scared the crap out of me when I was a kid
Avatar 8:03pm
Bronwyn Bishop:

the musical is an adaptation of the movie (surprisingly enough)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:08pm
Webhamster Henry:

And The Philadelphia Story was a play first, then a famous movie, High Society came out 1956, Excellent story recycling!

We saw Shockheaded Peter in SF around 1998. On the stairs as we left I heard a German accented man laughingly saying his parents told him all those stories and they terrified him.

These Follies songs are great! Perfect accompaniment for knitting outside.

An old boyfriend had 78s including Gallagher & Sheen, hilarious.

The Follies would play at the New Amsterdam, and after the show there'd be a midnight frolic revue in the restaurant on the roof.
