D.C. Lewis  Mijn Gebed   Favoriting 1970  This is your organ Lord, this is your church
I just walked in, Lord, just from work
Not for the priest, oh Lord, or the antiques
I came here just for the music

Is it a problem Lord, that I sit here
Does it matter oh Lord that I don't pray
I'm not reformed or anything, not Catholic
I just came here for the music

I come here often, Lord, almost every week
Never at a Sunday service, never for the sermon
When you're alone Lord, without the publique
Well the more you enjoy the music

I've had a rough day, Lord, things didn't go well
I was being bullied by colleagues too, Lord
It's because of the organ, Lord, because of your trumpet
that almost without noticing I got to a prayer

doing alright today, Jan, thanks! Sky looks blue here in sf!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:10pm

Hoi Mr Fab! Oktoberfest is something German, but as all things it has been exported to the NL. I don't think there will be any Oktoberfests now, cause the second wave of tightening Covid-measures is ahead...

Jan! What is a typical breakfast in the Netherlands?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
StringOFperils:

Uitsmijter ?
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:33pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Just sandwiches with cheese, hagelslag and coffee, jus d'orange, or a glas of milk
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:34pm
Jan Turkenburg:

we're not the big breakfast people, compared to what I'm reading on wfmu chats ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36pm
Franco Twinkie:

Excuse me while I google all of this which I do not understand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm
Rich in Washington:

Howdy, Jan!
Hi everybody!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:38pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Hey Rich!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:39pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Uitsmijter would more be something we'd have for lunch
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:40pm
Jan Turkenburg:

But eating habits have changed over the years. Lots of people eat yoghurt with muesli and fruit for breakfast now and also corn flakes etc...
Avatar 12:40pm
worldsworstrecords:

hey Rich!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:41pm
Jan Turkenburg:

But very few Dutchmen eat a warm meal for breakfast, except for boiled eggs, which is fairly traditional
Avatar 12:42pm
worldsworstrecords:

That's pretty similar in most of European France it's boiled eggs, cold meats or cheese, perhaps a pastry isn't it?
Avatar 12:43pm
worldsworstrecords:

In Britain, the big cooked breakfast is a one-a-week treat (if that); most of usually make do with cereal, yoghurt, toast or fruit
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:43pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Pastry is for with the coffee round 10 :-) at special occasions :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:47pm
Franco Twinkie:

The Uitsmijter looks like something I could love without any qualms. I had a blinding memory flash when I googled Hagelslag. My sister had a Dutch friend in elementary school who ate the chocolate sprinkle sandwiches for lunch, which to me were very exotic.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:49pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Yes, hagelslag is a bare necessity, to me anyway :-) almost just as important as coffee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51pm
Franco Twinkie:

Takes me back. Rita was a real beauty eating her chocolate sandwich.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53pm
StringOFperils:

Hah! I was thinking that a chocolate sprinkles sandwich sounded weird, but then I realized that Helene has a box of De Ruijter hagelslag in the cupboard...I think she has them as schokoladen Streusel though, being the good German girl that she is
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm
StringOFperils:

I just have milky coffee, and buttered toast that I share with the dog. He gets me up at the crack of dawn to make him buttered toast. It's really urgent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58pm
Franco Twinkie:

For me, there was always this reveal in the cafeteria when kids brought their lunch from home, Think of a gorgeous blond girl in an orange dress with chocolate smeared on her face.
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 12:59pm
Jan Turkenburg:

I get the picture instantly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:59pm

Someone's got a Nutella fetish
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:00pm

speaking of bare necessities ... Nutella!
Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:00pm
Jan Turkenburg:

Chocolate is important for mental health.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm

At that time, I had no idea what desire was, but I understood chocolate.

Avatar 🦝 Swag For Life Member 1:17pm
