Turning over the toy box and jamming together the gloriously mismatched musical Lincoln Logs, Legos and Tinker Toys from Tin Pan Alley pluggers, pickled egg tavern weepers, lockstep soul ensembles, skinny-tie power poppers, Eurotrash ravers, moontanned art school rockers, drunken soccer anthems and anything else that seems like a good idea at the time. There are no guilty pleasures.

More likely this comp is the source of the Liberace, same false beginning: https://www.pandora.com/artist/liberace/i-play-piano-and-sing-volume-2-live/ALK9ZJxp7j5lqJZ Released in 2011?

Was there a "Book One" recording by Kramer and Frisell?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10pm
Spinning Giant:

this is WAAAY better than the warbling almost-dead Johnny Cash version - don't get me wrong - I love warbling almost-dead Rubinized JC - but really - this is...well..thanks, UM! ...delish - guiding me thru the end of my workweek with grace enjoyment and surprises as always - Cheers!

(EDIT) ...okay, up until the really hokey "franglais" parts, I was diggint this - the producer should've had the good sense to edit that out...really, come on...

Ira:

Did Bert Berns and Bang Records give Neil Diamond his first break?
  2:11pm
dan:

Pulp Fiction OD scene.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Uncle Michael:

Good question, Ira. He was selling songs before he hooked up with Bert, so it depends on how one defines "first break".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
Spinning Giant:

epic cut - still - it immediately draws me back in - legendary reinterpretation by Nash & the lads...
  2:16pm
Dean:

According to Jocelyn Faris's 1995 bio-bibliography of Liberace's recordings, appearances, etc., there were then no recordings of "Flowers." He performed the tune during runs at the Nugget Casino in Sparks, NV, and the Las Vegas Hilton ("pure camp," wrote a reviewer) during October and November 1979.

I phrased it poorly - perhaps the first label to give him a bit of creative freedom and not care that he didn't sound like everyone else
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
Uncle Michael:

Ah, then yes, certainly so, I'd say.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm

But then his relationship with Bang went sour. I think there was a lot of that going around.
