Admit that mostly I did it to get to download some concerts but didn't think of the support to non-profit arts group and tax deduction part. But I'm slow on dealing with taxes anyway.

	3:17pm coelacanth∅: donations to wfmu (or anyone) are not tax-deductible here in the us, in my world and many others'. when you go the deductions route they pretend you made more money and add to your base amount. ($1000.?, 2000? -i forget) so deducting for donations, medical expenses, etc. is only worth it once its up in the thousands. otherwise you end up paying more in taxes than you would have if you didn't claim deductions. there've been years when my donations were over a thousand dollars; but only once were my medical expenses sufficient to make itemizing worth it to me -and that was just for a few dollars.

After Trump's early tax law, which raised the standard deduction, many households no longer got the benefit of the charitable donation write-off, because their annual donations and other deductions didn't exceed the standard. Medical is slightly different. For some time the rule has been, as stated by the IRS, "You may deduct only the amount of your total medical expenses that exceed 7.5% of your adjusted gross income." So, medical has been tied to AGI, while the utility of deducting donations is tied to the standard deduction, which is the same for everybody.

	3:49pm coelacanth∅: doing my own taxes was easy until i became a "private contractor" then i couldn't get my head around it. h&r blockheads cost me LOTS of money so the next year i tried to figure it out by looking at what they did. couldn't. good thing because on april 14th a tax faerie came to me and got it done, and right. last year she disappeared on me and i figured out my taxes by her example (though i decided to not pay them anyway) >$3000. out of pocket medical expenses, over 7.5% of my income, didn't make it worth it. >$600. deductions to non-profits also wasn't worth it, and is not deductible unless i fill out the extra forms that increase the standard deduction.
