	9:36am DJpeterDE: @LG in all seriousness: I’m the child of immigrants and I mispronounce my own name. So does the child of German immigrants who have anglicized their surname. Maybe it’s sad in the larger sense of losing your heritage, but I prefer to think of it as creating a new hybrid American identity! (I agree that it is sad when Italian Americans go overboard with asserting their Italian heritage. That’s how we got this whole Columbus Day mess.)

Immigrants from other countries are free to pronounce things however they like. But it is also fairly astounding how Americans often cannot say a foreign pronunciation even when they are told, and so families just give up and adopt the mispronunciation. That is too bad.

	🥁 10:50am Doug Schulkind: Turns out I didn't do yoga. I did spend that last 90 minutes cleaning paint out of the living room rug. Hearing the front door bell (actually, our front door barks like a dog when someone presses the buzzer!), our dog jumped off the couch in excitement and knocked over a small tin of a paint sample with an unscrewed lid. Ringing the doorbell was the guy who is painting our house. On Friday, he fell off his ladder while painting and had to go to urgent care. He limped over this morning to get some of the tools he had left strewn about when he hurried off after the accident. While he was here, he gave us precise advice on how to clean the paint out of the carpet. It was a perfect cycle, the paint spilled because the painter came over. We cleaned the paint out of the carpet because the painter came over. Weird morning.

	🥁 10:50am Doug Schulkind: Turns out I didn't do yoga. I did spend that last 90 minutes cleaning paint out of the living room rug. Hearing the front door bell (actually, our front door barks like a dog when someone presses the buzzer!), our dog jumped off the couch in excitement and knocked over a small tin of a paint sample with an unscrewed lid. Ringing the doorbell was the guy who is painting our house. On Friday, he fell off his ladder while painting and had to go to urgent care. He limped over this morning to get some of the tools he had left strewn about when he hurried off after the accident. While he was here, he gave us precise advice on how to clean the paint out of the carpet. It was a perfect cycle, the paint spilled because the painter came over. We cleaned the paint out of the carpet because the painter came over. Weird morning.
