Hey Sem, everything good in your garden?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:03pm spodiodi:

i've never been, S'em (hear it's nice ;)

Hola from the road!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Gina Bacon:

Hola bigplanetnoise!!
Avatar 5:05pm Sem:

Brian, still picking tomatoes, basil flourishing as yet, even while I am preparing to put garlic in the ground for next year. Good, good. And your garden?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, vanhooserd!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:07pm Gina Bacon:

My herbs all grew legs, so I guess they're done for this season.
Avatar 5:08pm Brian in UK:

Sem, Sweet corn was good as were beans, those not eaten will save the beans for stews later. Parsnips waiting to be picked. Severe attack from horseradish, you can never eat enough beef to use it all and it grows prolifically.
Avatar 5:09pm Brian in UK:

Might try and grow garlic this year, never had any luck. Any tips, Sem?
Avatar 5:10pm vanhooserd:

I must know that Wayne Moss song from the Barefoot Jerry album. Haven't heard it in over 40 years!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Gina Bacon:

Which one, vanhooserd?
Avatar 5:12pm Brian in UK:

Cinderella Studios, Area Code 615. First album they did a lovely version of I've Been Lovin' You too Long. If my memory serves!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:13pm Gina Bacon:

I've really enjoyed digging into the Barefoot Jerry and Area Code 615 stuff since meeting some of them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:14pm Gina Bacon:

Legends!
Avatar 5:14pm Brian in UK:

Weldon Myrick was a top steel player from way back..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm Gina Bacon:

Wayne i a big supporter of the show...he let me record a couple of interviews at Cinderella, which was surreal.
Avatar 5:15pm Sem:

One thing I do know is that garlic does well in dryer conditions. It is a rule that you never water it in the last month of growth. But you have a Zone 8 or better situation there, I think. Not so familiar w/ cultivation associated w/ that. Zone 5b or 6a here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm dutchtheo:

Hey Gina and someday folk and tomorrow people
Avatar 5:15pm vanhooserd:

If There Were Only Time For Love. I felt like I just heard it yesterday.
Avatar 5:17pm Brian in UK:

S'funny from way back when I bought the first two (and only) Area Code albums, the names were kind of mythical. Now with internet nothing is surprising.
Avatar 5:18pm Brian in UK:

Thanks Sem, will try again this years.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Gina Bacon:

dutchtheo!
Avatar 5:24pm Brian in UK:

This is bold, taking on this song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:24pm Gina Bacon:

It is, Brian! He stays pretty faithful to Marvin.
Avatar 5:26pm Sem:

^ I'll say. Sweet take, this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Gina Bacon:

Glad you like it, Sem!
  5:30pm otto:

oh yeah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:30pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, otto!
Avatar 5:31pm Brian in UK:

Gina, do you ever get downwind of Gurf Morlix. Loved what he did with early Lucinda Williams.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:34pm Gina Bacon:

I keep meaning to listen to more of him, Brian!
Avatar 5:39pm Julie P.:

Yikes, late again! Sorry Gina, I get distracted on Saturdays! Hi all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:39pm Gina Bacon:

Julie P!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:43pm Gina Bacon:

Glad you made it! (:
  5:45pm bigplanetnoise:

Sounding great on my Someday Matinee road tripping!
Avatar 5:46pm Brian in UK:

Hello Julie P. Are you keeping well?
Avatar 5:47pm Julie P.:

Hullo Brian in UK! I am hanging in there as best I can. How are you and the chooks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Gina Bacon:

Thank you, bigplanetnoise!
Avatar 5:49pm Brian in UK:

All good. They are still laying. We are keeping our heads down, lucky to be living in the country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm spodiodi:

down with the nefarious party
Avatar 5:51pm Brian in UK:

Kaston, my thoughts are more, are the people in power there for us or themselves
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Gina Bacon:

That the question, Brian!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm spodiodi:

big fat star on this song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Gina Bacon:

And I think we know the answer, lately. I'm hoping that might change....sooner than later.
Avatar 5:58pm Julie P.:

This is great! An upfront, unapologetic protest song that tells it like it is. We've been needing some new ones and new voices. Well done, Kaston.
Avatar 5:58pm Brian in UK:

How can you have a democracy with only two parties? If one does no suit does that mean the other one is what you want to vote for? Same over here.
What is a democracy if you cannot have the choice to vote for no candidate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm WR:

Agreed, well done. It speaks to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, WR!
Avatar 6:00pm Brian in UK:

Phil Ochs, we need you now.
Avatar 6:00pm Julie P.:

I hear the Guthrie influence. And I was also reminded of Country Joe and the Fish at Woodstock: "Gimmie an F!"
Avatar 6:08pm StringOFperils:

Interesting, this. Rather daring to deliver character-driven like this nowadays, in a world bereft of irony, and where empathy gutters away. Inhabiting the mindset of 'another side' is less usual, I think.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:09pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, StringOfPerils!
Avatar 6:09pm Brian in UK:

Karston, you kind of summed it up. But where do we go and how can it be changed?
Avatar 6:09pm StringOFperils:

*character-driven stuff
Avatar 6:09pm StringOFperils:

Hi Gina B. Hope you're well.
Avatar 6:11pm Julie P.:

Accurate representation of how some perceive the past based on what they want to think it was like while ignoring all the ugly parts they don't want to admit exist.
Avatar 6:14pm Julie P.:

I lived through that era and saw a lot of it first hand.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm WR:

@Brian in UK, Kaston can encapsule some insights and feelings and ideas of a moment to inspire us and give us some release but that doesn't make him an architect of the way forward.
Avatar 6:19pm Brian in UK:

WR, I appreciate that but it still begs the question.

All in the Family was based on Till Death Us Do Part over here. Alf Garnett became Archie Bunker.
Avatar 6:22pm Julie P.:

The EP is to get people thinking about it from a different angle.
Avatar 6:22pm Brian in UK:

'Just give me some truth'. John Lennon.
  6:23pm Eargasm!:

Gina!!! Sorry so late! We were out and about!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Gina Bacon:

Eargasm!
Avatar 6:24pm Julie P.:

Paulllll!
Avatar 6:26pm Brian in UK:

'A man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest' Paul Simon.
Avatar 6:26pm Julie P.:

Good one, Brian.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Gina Bacon:

Excellent, Brian.
Avatar 6:27pm Brian in UK:

'Eat a lot of peaches' John Prine!!
Avatar 6:27pm Julie P.:

Gina - you might ask Kaston if he's ever heard Springsteen's "American Skin". I'd be interested to know his thoughts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Gina Bacon:

I will, Julie
Avatar 6:30pm Julie P.:

We saw him do the very first live performance of that song in Atlanta. The crowd was speechless at first, and then the roar nearly knocked me off my feet. And the fuss over it nearly broke the internet (such as it was circa 1996).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm spodiodi:

that song made me wanna puke. great to hear it.
  6:30pm Eargasm!:

Julie P!!!
Avatar 6:32pm Julie P.:

Actually, it was in 2000.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Dave in Vermont:

i'm not sure the watchign these violent and gross videos is necessary- i heard a woman say something along the line that she didn't need to see videos of women being raped to know that sexual assault needs to end
Avatar 6:33pm Brian in UK:

I find Lord Buckley's take on Black Cross such a moving piece.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Gina Bacon:

Hey, Dave!
Avatar 6:34pm Brian in UK:

Thanks Kaston for standing up.
Avatar 6:35pm Julie P.:

All good, Kaston. So much music.
Avatar 6:43pm vanhooserd:

John Prine was the 13th of what is now around 300 deaths in Nashville.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm Gina Bacon:

I didn't know the number, vanhooserd. I know we all felt that one.
Avatar 6:46pm Julie P.:

I love this kind of story song. Very Guthrie - both Woody and Arlo.
Avatar 6:48pm Julie P.:

Biggest clicky star of the day for this one.
Avatar 6:49pm Brian in UK:

Talkin' blues must have humour/irony to make the point.
Avatar 6:50pm Julie P.:

I'd be remiss if I didn't say how lovely the guitar and voices are. Very pure.
