Hi, I'm shopping for "quite a show", can I find it at this store?

Peter from Dover NJ:

Bethany, Menu's last name is driving me nuts, I'm looking on Google and Amazon for that piece. Any suggestions for search terms?

Dean:

Was just listening to Khatia Buniatishvili's latest for the second time today. It is the opposite of Trés Vif, for the most part, and better the second time around. She performs Cage's 4'33".

@WR, when I glanced at my screen I read "a quiet show" and, well, might not have that in stock!

@Peter from Dover I found it by searching on the title, " Sonatine pour quatour à codes". It is on Youtube, Amazon, and Spotify. Dunno who Pierre Menu is; the entries only indicate is in "by Galatea Quartet"
  8:34pm
Dean:

Well, there you are! The Boulez was a '45!

damn, you do play fine things!

bunyan:

OK, found Pierre Menu (1896-1919) and a list of compositions here : https://musicalics.com/en/node/83099

Found a forum discussion here: http://www.unsungcomposers.com/forum/index.php?topic=4958.0
His dates make me suspect he may have been a victim of the influenza pandemic...
  8:46pm
Dean:

From a review in Fanfare of that Magnard recording: "It’s voluptuously recorded, with enough space to float Magnard’s string writing, and Magnard responds well to Bollon’s spontaneous tempo shifts and ferocious energy. The daring rhapsodic spirit here is wonderfully involving."
Avatar 8:46pm
Bethany Ryker:

@bunyan and Peter from Dover, there are two recordings of the Menu Sonatine: by the Parisii Quartet (Quatour) and the Galatea Quartet, as Bunyan mentioned. Beyond that (and unfortunately I didn't have access to liner notes) there is a Wikipedia entry in Spanish and also the two links Bunyan posted.

Your show is an after-work Tues. night treat. Thanks!

When a composer dies . . Do they automatically become a decomposer?
  8:53pm
bunyan:

Artists who pass before the age of 30 or so don't tend to get much in the way of biography... We wonder what Arriaga or Pinto (as well as others such as Menu - Schubert for that matter) might have done if they had had another 30 years.
