	♥ 7:49pm Bronwyn Bishop: My favorite Turtles fact is that they wrote Elenore because they were annoyed at being asked to write a catchy pop hit, so they wrote a parody of catchy pop hits (thus lines like "you're my pride and joy, et cetera")

I don't own any of the songs I play (I pull them all off youtube) but I knew about some of these and found others mostly by thinking of famous show tunes and looking for covers, but also looking at the broadway message boards for threads of people discussing (mostly complaining about) show tunes covers
