Morris from Dresden:

What a psychedelic start into the new day. Astatue Palate should be an LP looking forward.
Morning Tom, Crew & List'ners!
  12:19am
Ryan:

This version is crazy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am
TomDash:

Hey Morris - yeah the new Astute Palate is a MUST HAVE! I was lucky in the right-place, right-time factor and caught their only live show the weekend they recorded the LP - June 2019!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am
TomDash:

Hey Ryan, welcome - yeah love that version!
  12:25am
Ryan:

I’m starting to like Tuesday nights.
  12:27am
rw:

Everything Ryan says goes for me too.
  12:28am
rw:

How's the Conny Plank documentary? Worth watching? I tend to avoid TV if I can.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am
TomDash:

rw - only about 30 minutes into it, but really digging it so far - influenced a couple selections tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34am
mariano:

Cool, TomDash. Looked up the Plank documentary, also found one on Killing Joke: www.amazon.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am
TomDash:

Nice mariano - will have to check out the Killing Joke doc for sure too!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am
TomDash:

I have a habit of going down a youtube rabbit hole of live stuff after my wife goes to bed and I inevitably end up watching some live Killing Joke tracks - lots of live footage of them on the old youtoobers...
  12:39am
chaos_in_LA_LA:

It’s been odd
again
Thx
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am
mariano:

TomDash: YT's getting insane with what you can find in terms of live band footage. I even found the Fugazi show I was at in 1989 in Omaha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45am
TomDash:

Nice mariano! That David Nance track was from a backyard somewhere in Omaha - did you ever meet Dereck Higgins there by chance?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46am
TomDash:

Speaking of live youtube - a fantastic set from Crack Cloud in 2019 - www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:50am
ultradamno:

Trying to contort myself...I am not limber.
  12:51am
rw:

ultradamno, just start slow by contorting yourself one time.
  12:52am
Brad:

Hey all, great show so far Tom, thank you! I have a covid question for any that feels like answering...tonight I was comparing data for rates of cases of infection compared to mortality rate (yeah, I know it's morbid), and even though the infection rates are rising the mortality rates are actually steadily decreasing...so why all the doomsday news?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am
ultradamno:

Last time I looked up Killing Joke on You Tube it threw a thing of Louis CK and Opie & Anthony talking them down and saying one of them was on their show and said he had sex with an ostrich. I had to bail.

It was quaint to hear Louis CK not defend someone for sexual misbehavior though.

Tom: Oh wow, what a coincidence! I haven't been to Omaha since... 1996 I think it was? I'm afraid I never met DH, though Digital Sex were local legends. Steve Sheehan I knew tangentially.
  12:54am
Ryan:

Oof O&A
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00am

Very much like Echo and the Bunnymen, this Mothmen.

Crap. I have some leftover pancake batter in the kitchen and now I'm craving...
  1:02am

Thanks Tom

Kat in Chicago:

Seriously, did I have to hear this when I'm about to go to bed and don't want to snack first, haha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02am
TomDash:

ha Kat - just a little snack...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am
Kat in Chicago:

I'm going to stay strong and hope that the thought of delicious breakfast food gets me out of bed at an earlier hour tomorrow morning.
  1:05am
Brad:

One more thing about the pandemic and then I'll shut up...I want to thank and congratulate everyone that has been wearing a mask and socially distancing, because it's been helping a lot. Keep up the good work and stay strong/healthy!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05am
TomDash:

good call Kat...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06am
TomDash:

Thanks Brad! Indeed...

Xaviera Hollander is still alive. So many people have died this year sometimes I think of someone I'm not sure about and check on them. And if they're still around...on her site she reports that she's staying quarantines but can "walk around in my cosy house and garden without the risk of getting infected." www.xavierahollander.com
  1:16am
Brad:

Glad the "happy hooker" is doing well and taking good care of herself
  1:19am
Ryan:

Woah
  1:20am
Brad:

Her 1973 record is so dated ha especially the 8-track version: https://www.discogs.com/Xaviera-Xaviera/release/8179382
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21am
mariano:

Wow, ultradamno. There's a name I haven't heard in decades.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am
ultradamno:

She had one in the 80s called Happily Hooked, that title must have taken minutes to come up with..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24am
ultradamno:

She sings on it, kind of www.youtube.com...
  1:26am
Brad:

LOL
  1:27am
Brad:

We need more songs about vibrators
  1:31am
Brad:

Love this Scorpions song...great Conny Plank production.
  1:38am
maus in macon:

Wow, I almost thought this was Can... 2020 release date, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am
TomDash:

yeah @maus - wild stuff from some heavy players - has a Miles Bitches brew vibe too at times - johndwyer.bandcamp.com...
  2:19am
rw:

This one has that Contortions vibe. Are they related?
  2:20am
rw:

And I just ate a bunch of breakfast snack food.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20am
TomDash:

interesting rw - not related, just similar heavy rhythms - Copulation is early/mid 80s Swiss band...
  2:27am
rw:

This is a Russian band called Gang of Four? I guess I can wait until the back announce...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30am
TomDash:

Ha - yes, I actually asked Daniel Blumin for some help on some Russian translations for my international post-punk Marathon premium and he told me this band translated to "Gang of Four" - pretty ballsy! ha. Love the band, cannot stand the crappy bass sound! haha...
  2:31am
rw:

Ha! I was just thinking I kind of liked the crappy bass sound.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33am
TomDash:

ha rw - I dunno, I find it distracting in its crappiness! maybe i'll learn to love it...great band though. Cool label re-issuing lots of Russian 80s/90s bands - 12chasov.bandcamp.com
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40am
brycepunk1:

Loving your show tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:41am
TomDash:

Oh man, thanks much @brycepunk1 - so glad you're digging...I love, love to tell these sonic stories every week.
  2:46am
rw:

I'll have to listen again. (Russian Gang of Four) Maybe it IS distracting in that I was noticing it. I liked that it was reminding me of 1981 for some reason. Is that one on your premium?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48am
TomDash:

hey rw - no it didn't make the cut - they were from the 90s and I focused on 80s. Great band, just something about the bass! haha...check out that reissue label though, lots of cool stuff...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52am
ultradamno:

Hey, the new Quietus...the one with the medicine ball on it, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53am
TomDash:

yep ultrad - just got released...
  2:54am
rw:

Will do. Thanks. And thanks for hosting tonight! Have a good week everyone. Can't wait to see where the world will be by then.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54am
TomDash:

Alright kids, wrapping up in a moment for this week. Thank you SO MUCH, as always, for hanging and listening this week...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00am
TomDash:

see ya next week, y'all - thanks for hanging!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:00am
