Love Samuel Barber, the entire spectrum of his work. But he reminds me that I need a haircut.

Hello.

Evenin', everybody!

That last movement, to me, holds the title of "most enraged fugue"...
Avatar 8:07pm
Bethany Ryker:

Ha, Bunyan! Yeah - the fugue to end all fugues.

Bethany Ryker:

Greetings all, thanks for joining tonight!!

Lifschitz really is one of the great ivory ticklers of our time. I've been listening to his Bach, Rachmaninov, early recitals.

Anything special for Sagittarian Ludwig's 250th ? Linus from Peanuts guest hosting ??
  8:39pm
bunyan:

According to the usual account, Ludwig even died shaking his fist at the heavens, a very Sagittarian gesture...

@RRN63: maybe I understood your text wrong, but I do believe you're thinking of Schroeder.

TDK60:

Except for that Barber fella, all the other classical names here are new to me. Groovy.

I bet, TDK, that you have heard Bolcolm's "Graceful Ghost." But if you haven't, seek it out.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:50pm
Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Schroeder ! ...It's been a while... Linus would be incestuous...
Something about this show that showcases perfect transcriptions sends me into self-conscious typo mode... It's also very Mercury in Sagittarius (which just started...)
  8:51pm
Dean:

I'll be delicate here: it's "Wiener."
  8:52pm
bunyan:

Bolcom wrote many "rags" that you may enjoy: I always liked that he wrote a "Last Rag", then couldn't resist and wrote one more a while later.

I attended a performance of his choral setting of Blake's "Songs of Innocence and Experience" some years ago, including accompanying projections of many of Blake's engravings for his poems. A recorded performance is available.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm

don't be a whiner, Dean ;)
