Hello all! Today's playlist art is by August Klett.

Good Tuesday, all, from a chilly northern NJ!

Mark Williams:

hey Tony and everyone. So Klett was schizophrenic, I see. A precursor to the show you have planned?
Avatar 12:04pm
Tony Coulter:

and .. hiya, Yvang and Mark!

Today's show will in fact be a bit schizophrenic!

I can rely to this title.

My plan is to do nothing before the end of the day.

I'm alarmed that I correctly guessed that this was from 1971. Good year!
Avatar 🥁 Swag For Life Member 12:25pm

Tony, there's not a single thing wrong with that plan.

Good year-guessing....

Actually, the vocalist sounds more like Geddy Lee on some other tracks (I swear).
  12:45pm
Dean:

You know who sounds like Geddy Lee? Burke Shelley. Or vice versa.
Avatar 12:47pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Dean! Burke Shelley of Budgie? Yeah, but if you're talking alarmingly high-pitched male vocals, no one beats David Surkamp of Pavlov's Dog.
  12:48pm
Mark Williams:

early to mid period Geddy Lee, I presume? Not that latter day Geddy that sounds like a bagpipe with a gradually enlarging hole being slowly sat on?
  12:49pm
Dean:

I'd say Dane of Druid beats Surkamp.
  12:50pm
Dean:

Just occurs to me that I should start a band called Durid.
  12:51pm
Mark Williams:

Durid Durid. An all-dyslexic Druid band.
  12:52pm
Dean:

And as for really good male singers, the superstar these days is Philippe Jaroussky. I so wish I were a countertenor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KxnBjAaJWCc
Avatar 12:53pm

Just googled "Durid," and the first thing that comes up is this sentence: "ONLY DURID DONT HAF SUM PEEPS IN THE HEAD AND A GUNZ LOL! "

Jon Appleton, as in this guy: www.discogs.com...
  1:07pm
Dean:

Good guess. Studied with Imbrie, formerly (now long ago) at Berkeley.
Avatar 1:11pm
Tony Coulter:

Plus, Appleton taught/teaches at Dartmouth, where this Bodin piece was realized.
Avatar 1:12pm

Realized in their electronic music studios, I mean.

Who is Pamela? Do we know?

Mark R:

I like this Matadors track--it's wild, got a lot of different sections. Very interesting. 1968, bet it was cool to listen to while tripping. It's cool now stone cold sober!
Avatar 1:33pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Mark! Plus, the Matadors were Czech, so they get bonus points for sounding that way over there, back then.
  1:36pm
Mark R:

Yeah--take that, repressive commie overlords with your brown suits and shitty food! We're wearing bright green shirts and we don't give a fuck!
  1:37pm
Mark R:

This Swedish electronic shit's pretty far out, too. People must've thought they were crazy in 1959.
Avatar 1:42pm
Tony Coulter:

Yet, Linblad was probably wearing a brown suit when he made that piece (and eating shitty food).
Avatar 1:45pm
Tony Coulter:

Back then, even bomb-throwing revolutionaries wore jackets and ties.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45pm
Sem:

Following along at home, Tony. This is some roll of tunes, thx.
  1:45pm
Mark R:

This was the album where Santana really started to spread his wings. He'd been listening to a lot of Miles and Coltrane and he was on a whole spiritual trip, and he was gonna play what he wanted, and they'd sold so many records for Columbia, there wasn't much they could say about it.
Avatar 1:47pm
Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Sem! Follow the bouncing ball....
  1:47pm
Dean:

I really need to get my hands on the live Lotus album. I remember its early import-only issue, and I *almost* acquired it time after time.
  1:48pm
Mark R:

I love that album, Dean. I remember a guy down the hall in my dorm had it, but it cost like $25! Now you can get it for about $10. It's so spectacular, isn't it?
  1:49pm
wendy del formaggio:

Hi Tony. I’ve heard most of today’s show. I’m working so I haven’t commented. It’s really matched my mood perfectly, which happens sometimes.
  1:50pm
Dean:

From what I remember, Mark R, yes! For one thing, it was the relatively scarce 3LP live set, like Yessongs. But the packaging, the programming, all so good.
Avatar 1:52pm
Tony Coulter:

Wendy! Great to have your ears (and fingers) here!
  1:52pm
Mark R:

Well, crammed onto two little CDs, the music is still mind-blowing. Carlos and Neal Schon just ripping, and all that amazing percussion, my god! The audio quality was really good for a live album, too.
  1:54pm
wendy del formaggio:

Thanks Tony! I’m glad I could tune in. Hope you’re well.

Ike:

Hi all. Good to see you Wendy! Hey, since you're here, you don't have a favorite place to order Morbier cheese online, do you? I need to order some Xmas cheese gifts. I might just walk to Sahadi's and get it in person but it seems safer to do contact-less shipping.
Avatar 2:29pm
Tony Coulter:

Ike! Heya, hiya!
  2:32pm
wendy del formaggio:

Hi Ike. I always choose Zabar’s. They ship! And I’m pretty certain they keep Morbier in stock. And I still remember their phone # from working there a million years ago: 212-787-2000. Happy Cheesemas!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:37pm
Ike:

Thanks!!! I'm bummed I can't go in person since I like just wandering around Zabar's. I mean, I *could* but I'm not a risk-taking type. I have even been sealing shut the top of my masks with medical tape so that the air cannot slip in and out between my face and my mask, and has to go *through* the mask instead. Also this stops my glasses from fogging up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm
Ike:

Attaching the top of my mask to my face with tape looks really stupid, but it makes a good seal. Most intelligent men will take looking stupid over, y'know, all those side effects for life (insert ED joke here, ha ha).
Avatar 2:39pm
Tony Coulter:

Maybe it'll turn out that blue cheese kills the virus dead.

If that's the case then my mom will live forever, hooray! Heh.

this is really sounding groovy today, Tony!
Avatar 2:45pm
Tony Coulter:

Hey, Julie! Thanks! There's a groovy, love-beads-wearing guy locked somewhere deep inside me.
  2:45pm
wendy del formaggio:

Ike, I also have the glasses-fogging issue. A wire on the top edge to mold around the bridge of my nose works fairly well. I’ve also sewn wires into masks without them. A strip of flannel sewn on the inside of the mask in the same place also helps.
And luckily Zabar’s delivers. :-D
Avatar 2:49pm
Tony Coulter:

As a fellow four-eyes, I have fogging issues too. Nose bridge wire does help, especially if the wire is fairly thick.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:49pm
Ike:

Ah yes, I read about the wires somewhere. Someone called them "badger seals" for some reason. There is a web page that offers instructions on making them, but I'm not very handy.
Avatar 2:50pm
Tony Coulter:

I guess people who wear flippable/attachable sunglasses on top of their glasses are six eyes.
  2:52pm
wendy del formaggio:

The wires I use come from a coffee roasting company. It’s the wires embedded in plastic that are on coffee bags. They work great and are very sturdy.
Avatar 2:53pm
Tony Coulter:

er, "wear," not "were." Damn you, fingers....
  2:54pm
wendy del formaggio:

I hope this link works. These are the wires:

https://www.uline.com/Product/Detail/S-12362BL/Take-Out-Bags/Peel-and-Stick-Ties-5-1-2-Black
  2:54pm
wendy del formaggio:

The wires are long enough to cut in half, so 1 wire serves 2 masks.
