“Blue” Gene Tyranny (1945-2020, raised Robert Sheff in Texas, taught at Mills, moved to NYC in 1983) composed over fifty works for electronic, instrumental and vocal ensembles, over thirty film and video soundtracks, and fifty scores for dance and theatre productions. Emerging as a member of the early multimedia avant-garde ONCE group of the 60s, “Blue” went on to provide music and improvisations for the Robert Ashley’s opera-for-television “Perfect Lives”, and influence a music/media generation. “Blue” received Obie and Bessie Awards, was nominated for a Grammy, and worked with Laurie Anderson, Carla Bley, John Cage, Leroy Jenkins, Iggy Pop, and many others. He published articles and reviews including the in 20th Century Avant-Garde section of the All-Music Guide. And that’s the easy-to-explain part!

I've heard this before. Nothing good happens in Tally (I might be biased). However, the best brunch place I've had there was across the street from FL A&M. I once got pulled over in college w/ friends while doing psychedelics on our way to camp (ironically near blountsville), but, since, I'm a dorky white kid, they let me go....

Hello Che. It was 1972 and Blue was at Mills Electronic Music Center so... Buchla?

Che Chen: My recollection in the Country Boy Country Dog CD is that Blue had produced the source tracks years before and we imposed various studio techniques to enhance the resonances and create layering. (1993 - seems like NOT yesterday!)
