clarke: Yeah, rents were so incredibly cheap here in the 90s. Then again, they were so much cheaper everywhere. When in lived in SF in the 90s, my then-GF had a studio on Haight a block or two from the park, and she was paying $575. Which at the time I thought was obscene.

Yeah, I had it pretty much right. Three of the Gateway Drugs are kids of one of the Knack. And yes, it was Swervedriver they opened for. I think they were better than Swervedriver (who are one of my faves from the nineties) at least that night. Swervedriver had a sub bass player, playing a really wooly-sounding Gibson bass. Sounded like he was playing through a box of pillows.

Hubig: One of my friends lived in the Marigny and Bywater in the 90s, was such a different area then, you're right. Unfortunately, in the 90s, Louisiana was still the place I was trying to escape from. So short-sighted. Then again, I got to live in some other cool places before they were totally Disneyfied.

I have a couple things by the Fox Sisters. They've put out a lot of stuff (including side things). I've lost touch with the Rochester music scene since I moved out of the in 2003. I used to go see all the local bands. Most were as good as any national touring band. See: The Quitters, The Priests, The Bloody Hollies (maybe they were from Buffalo), The Riviera Playboys, The Hi-Risers (and all Greg Townson's other bands),
..., and those are the roots/garage ones. There also noisey artsy bands.

The boundary between Little Falls and Woodland Park goes down the middle of Rt 46 there. The Great Notch Inn is on the Woodland Park side of the road. But most of the area called Great Notch is in Little Falls (there's no inutilement Great Notch municipality). So it's settled then.

There was a great Rochester hard-rockabilly band around 2000-2003... What was it called? They were kinda like the Stray Cats with bigger amps.... with healthy doses of Black Flag and The Cramps. I wish I could remember their name. They did your a bit. I saw them opening for Hot Hot Heat (who were almost local, since Toronto isn't far away).

The Flashcubes moved to Boston briefly, because one of the Flashcubes had moved there (the one who also leads former Syracuse band, now Boston band 1.4.5). My cousin moved there with them all, because he did sound and management for stove of them. The of the Flashcubes moved back to Syracuse. the 1.4.5 guy stayed in Boston. the drummer moved to NYC and it's still active around here.
