Turning the varispeed up, so all the songs play faster, get this %$*&!?# year over with as quick as we can.
Rick G:

Thanks for being here, this last Tuesday of the year, Ira and skeleton crew. Hope your producer keeps you hydrated.

Avatar 9:07pm

@Ira I'll let TomDash know to be ready X% early
Avatar 9:07pm

Happy end of the year everyone--just another Groundhog Day over here

What is the larger collective Lambchop or The Polyphonic Spree? Hmmm...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13pm

happy wellyear, sunshines

Greetings from Oregon! That Hollies song....!
  Swag For Life Member 9:15pm

To be fair to the Hollies, they were just starting out when they recorded that . . . perfect song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21pm
Mr. Pumpy:

Hello, Ira. This Sabir Mateen is stellar. I'm in Dolphy, Sun Ra, Tom & Jerry OST land, over here. Great cut!
  Swag For Life Member 9:22pm

I love this tenor-vibes-bass-drums lineup. Too stupid to come up w/other examples . . . but it's a beauty.

Ira...so glad you just said you were going to get back into the track! Yeah...Like Bobby Brown said!

hello, The Graduate is on TCM if you also had doubts after graduating college, or had an affair with Mrs. Robinson, or if you wanna hear some Simon and Garfunkel this evening

also it snowed here today in the midwest, but only a little bit
  Swag For Life Member 9:30pm

@BH: I hope I'm not ruining anything for you, but Benjamin and Elaine end up together.

i saw you in the new yorker crossword last week
  Swag For Life Member 9:35pm

I'm sure I'd still enjoy The Graduate if I were watching it right now, but going to get on my soapbox to celebrate Buck Henry for Taking Off and season 1 of Get Smart (to pick two favorites).
  Swag For Life Member 9:39pm

Thank you, brak. My heart breaks a little every time that answer is clued with Gershwin, Glass, Levin or Roth ____ .
Avatar 9:42pm

Shots fired on Glass! Let's get this feud goin
Avatar 9:42pm

I fear Gershwin's heart wouldn't be in it

Rick G:

I’ve been rewatching NBC’s Saturday Night from the first season. Buck Henry was such a pro on his episodes. You could tell how much the cast loved him, too.
Libby’s Mom:

Just finished watching Home Alone 2 at my child’s request. This music feels like my brain right now.
  Swag For Life Member 9:50pm

I think it was out of love for Catherine O'Hara that we watched Home Alone, way back when (though not in the theater). I remember how the previews and commercials made it seem so funny, and then came the realization that every single enjoyable aspect of the movie could be found in said previews and commercials. Luckily, Beetlejuice did not disappoint!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:50pm
Mx. Granny (e/em):

hey ira and folx! very much enjoying this long, luxurious listen!
Libby’s Mom:

@Ira - had I seen the previews I’d have to agree. Yes to Beetlejuice and Happy New Year
Avatar 9:57pm

hi ira. wanted to say great set a yr ago tonight w/ bill frisell :O :) digging this sabir mateen
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm
Mr. Pumpy:

Ira, that was amazing! You did that Mateen track proper! Great show all together. May you have a great end-of-the-year weekend. Peace and love, baby.

This serial archive streamer is dropping in from the future to wish everyone a Healthy & Happy Gnu Year! Thanks for the tunes, Mr. DeeJay & producer. XOXOX

Gaylord Fields:

Ira, I've been trying to figure out who the performers are on this track ever since I saw The Big Cube on TCM a couple of years ago (well, by "ever since" I mean for an hour or two and then dropped it till now). I'll get back on the case.
  Swag For Life Member 10:06pm

Gaylord, anything to get you distracted from scatalogical Monkees puns. The discogs page for the 2 songwriters is useless. Pretty sure it's not "The Finks."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:07pm
Gaylord Fields:

AFI check credits it to "The Finks" — which points heavily to it being a studio concoction, as Howard Finkelstein is a co-writer.
  Swag For Life Member 10:10pm

We watched it last night, so the memory is fresh (and the flashbacks are inevitable). "The Finks" do a deliriously half-baked miming job at the psychedelic disco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm
Gaylord Fields:

I recall it being only about 67% as campy as a Lana Turner on acid movie should be.
  Swag For Life Member 10:16pm

Very possible that you and I are the only 2 people on the Comments page who have yet to take LSD.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19pm
Gaylord Fields:

Yes, I'm still not "experienced" — and there's no way it's gonna be as good as '60s movies and TV purports. (New favorite TV acid trip: Martin Milner on Route 66.)

Shoveling snow to the Ira the K show.

@Libby’s Mom: Appreciate the sentiment, but I'm rather enjoying this decades-long game of Lysergic Chicken that Ira and I are playing.

What a nice royal arctic institute song!

@Matt Fiveash: Not so sure about that, but I'm looking forward to tripping tomorrow evening while you play a bowdlerized version of "WAP" on your "Best of 2020" show that Ira helpfully announced.
