it is a fascinating rabbit hole to explore -- like in NYC all these places that used to be opium dens, brothels, speakeasies, etc. -- if i happen to be walking by one of these locations, i gotta wonder if the people now living there know the building's history! so i can imagine that New Orleans has an equally rich "forbidden" history

@mariano -- a ton in midtown too -- not going back that far, but in the 70s, 80s -- all these buildings that used to house brothels are now "luxury" condos . . . hell, i almost fell over laughing when i saw that the Baby Doll is now some fancy wine bar
