Wait until Darryl puts something by a group called the Omni Gospel Trio on here--it's this woman AND Wayne 'Omni' Francis and another singer together.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:03pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

We've had thunder, brief but heavy showers, and then glorious sunshine, so it's been a very mixed bag today weatherwise :-)

Can I say Darryl has picked some rotten records today. Wahey!

I've just finished some tea. It's weird... it's warm here that's not weird... but something is malfunctioning at me work... it's like 50F in the building and 77F outside some I'm dressed like the winter inside

yeah i'm writhing now, which is good I think
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Beany - Very weird sisters!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:08pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - I think writhing is the equivalent of us all holding lighters aloft for Darryl's show ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Ah ... sickly sweet children ... Now I'M writhing in agony!
Avatar 2:10pm
Beany:

Sweetly sick
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
MHLee:

You know I taught music to elementary children for 2 years... never did that cause me psychic damage like these records do
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Many years ago I received a chocolate and peanut brittle rabbit for Easter. It was a good two foot tall and solid. I gave it a good go - and it was delicious - but gave up somewhere around his neck.
I've had many occasions over the years to wish for a time machine so I could go back and finish it off. ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - I commend you! There's something about children and records that creates an alchemical weirdness I think :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

JESUS GOD ALMIGHTY!! THIS CHILD!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

"You're only keeping me for spunk"?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm

Oh god.... is this the child that's sings "Please Don't Go Topless, Mama"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - Her smile reminds me of someone ... can't put my finger on it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - I do believe you're right!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm

@GG That scratchy kid's voice... is pretty unmistakable
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I *love* this Pat Boone album. Lol
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - yep. As soon as you said it, I could hear the other song. <shudder>
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
MHLee:

I hear that at his last show he was considering what song on this album to play
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:15pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - It's a stonker of an album, to be fair!
Avatar 2:15pm
Beany:

I first heard this Pat Boone CD being used as the interval music at a Porcupine Tree gig. I went to the mixing desk to enquire what it was so I could rush out and buy it!
  2:16pm
Eric Kilkenny:

Hello DJ Georgy Girl! Thanks for running D's show
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Beany - It's one you think, on paper, is going to be horrible, but then it turns out to be pretty fabulous :-)
  2:16pm
Jay Pemberton:

I wonder who wrote the arrangement?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Hi Eric!! How's the Pinball Wizard today? :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - Good question!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm
MHLee:

There actually is a really good lounge cover of this song... Richard Cheese does a great version
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17pm
MHLee:

or another really good version depending on how you look at it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - Produced by Jeffrey Weber and Michael Lloyd if that helps?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:18pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - there's also the Paul Anka album in a similar vein
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I can't remember the last time I saw a metal dustbin.
Avatar 2:19pm
Beany:

I wonder if this was the dustman that annoyed Prince Charles?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:19pm
MHLee:

Weber apparently has $2.99 ebook company now
  2:20pm
Jay Pemberton:

Pye....you'd have thought this would have been on their Picadilly subsidiary. They had Freddie Lennon on there, you know!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Beany - Lol!!!! let's hope so ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
MHLee:

and a book called "You've Got A Deal! The Biggest Lies of the Music Busines" which is a good totle
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - Oh God ... that Freddie Lennon song .. eek.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:20pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - True! :-)
  2:21pm
Jay Pemberton:

Perfect for here, no?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:21pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - I'm genuinely surprised if Darryl hasn't played it!
Avatar 2:21pm
Beany:

"Frank first made the news when he woke Prince Charles while emptying the bins at Trinity College, Cambridge."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Beany - Aha!!! Well found!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
MHLee:

"You've Got A Deal! The Biggest Lies of the Music Business is a lighthearted stomp through all the lies that award-winning producer Jeffrey Weber has been telling artists for over thirty years".... well umm that's an interesting premise.... Hi, Im a liar...
  2:22pm
Jay Pemberton:

A crashing bin is what you hear on the intro of 'Summer in the city' by the Lovin' Spoonful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - I'm intrigued by a "lighthearted stomp" ;-)
  2:23pm
Jay Pemberton:

Next up, two whoppers in a row, and Burger King had nothing to do with either of them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:23pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - I did not know that!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Come on Eilert ... you can reach the tune ... we believe in you!
  2:24pm
Jay Pemberton:

It was engineered by Roy Halee, who was also doing Simon and Garfunkel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - I've always been completely obsessed with the Lovin' Spoonful. My go to happy songs :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
MHLee:

lmao
  2:25pm
Jay Pemberton:

:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
MHLee:

@GG that's a solid go-to for happy songs
Avatar 2:25pm
Beany:

Eilert needs a very big bucket to help him to carry a tune.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

My daughter just walked into the living room and I said "You timed that well" ;-)
  2:26pm
Jay Pemberton:

Beany--with wheels!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

You've gotta love Eilert really - he has some good old-fashioned pluck going on, bless him :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm
MHLee:

The way his voice slides (further) out of tune on every note is amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:27pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - Nashville Cats and Rain On The Roof <3
Avatar 2:27pm
Beany:

He is smashing it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:28pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

How can anyone destroy this glorious song?? Lol
  2:29pm
Jay Pemberton:

Just wait--you'll find out!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

On reflection, I'm not surprised she's leaving him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm
MHLee:

these songs with the fake backing track... there's so many recording's like this
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@MHLee - I'm imagining one of those Bontempi organ things where you hit a pre-made track with a button :-)
  2:31pm
Jay Pemberton:

It was a MIDI thing played back off a keyboard. That off-time pseudo-piano bit is him playing over the top of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:31pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Is it me or is this song five hours long? Lol
  2:32pm
Jay Pemberton:

The MIDI stuff was on a 3 1/2" floppy. I know all this stuff because I was the engineer.

It's only 5 1/2 minutes but it SEEMS like 5 hours!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - I like hearing all the background details :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm
MHLee:

That's fascinating.

DJ GeorgyGirl:

RAGING PASSIONS!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:33pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Darryl's show today is getting me in the mood for Eurovision on Saturday :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:34pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - Silk purse etc :-)
  2:34pm
Jay Pemberton:

Indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:35pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

I read in the week that the US is going to stage its own Eurovision style contest.
  2:35pm
Jay Pemberton:

I've read that--but what would they call it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
MHLee:

Coca-Cola
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - That's what I was wondering! I hope it isn't too slick either. They need to preserve the crapness of it :-)
Avatar 2:36pm

The microwave popcorn is calling me. I'm still listening.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm

@MHLee - They do pop up, don't they? ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:43pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Eric - I'm kinda torn about that one
  2:44pm
Jay Pemberton:

I don't think Darryl's played the Mitch Miller and the Gang version of 'Give peace a chance'--it is the last track on Miller's last LP PEACE SING ALONG recorded in 1970.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

@Jay - Wait ... Mitch Miller singing "Give Peace A Chance"?? That sounds like a good'un!
Avatar 2:45pm
Domenic:

Different is good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm
MHLee:

@Eric I keep getting ads for it on Facebook. You know... the final Monkee's concert will happen the year after pat boone did his last concert... I don't know what that means but it feels like it means something
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm
DJ GeorgyGirl:

Groooooooooooooovy
  2:46pm
Jay Pemberton:

I have the LP....found it at the Salivating Armpit, still with 12 lyric sheets included. Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street studio by Frank Laico (who did Miller's Columbia records), mixed at Atlantic by Tom Dowd, and mastered by George Piros. It's on Atlantic, Miller's only record for them, and his last.
