My bride's family has a lot of Scottish blood (you are welcome to have some if you still need a fill-up, Fred) and they have a shortbread tradition on NYE. The making, baking, serving, and singing is very structured, reaching near-religious practice. The same recipe cooked in the same pan with "Happy New Year" poked in the dough with the same nail, all used for the last 100 years or so. They even have their own path through Old Lang Syne, singing the verses out of order. It's like they started their own off-kilter wing of the Freemasons

The nail became a particular challenge after my mother-in-law passed. She was a hoarder, and finding the exact nail in all the mess was a nightmare. And trust me, there was no way my wife and sister-in-law were going throw anything out until its contents were fully vetted until the nail was found.

Vey well recorded - in the midst of 80s nonsense too. The Heartbreakers somewhat competent, one might say... & yerknow - I've got cultural bias against Stevie & a lot of Mainstream 70s(/80s) - but she can sure Sing by any objective measure...

Total bummer: a transit strike is called on Friday, when Dave Sewelson should play. Can I get there in time? (No advance ticket for me because no smartphone) If I can get there, I'll get back. Maybe (I did the trip back on foot once and was later told I had a survival shot in the low tenths)

These our actors, as I foretold you, were all spirits, and are melted into air, into thin air; and, like the baseless fabric of this vision, the cloud-capped towers, the gorgeous palaces, the solemn temples, the great globe itself, yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve; and, like this insubstantial pageant faded, leave not a rack behind."
