Merrily We Roll Along is a mish-mash of high energy lunacy, reverence, and irreverence for forgotten pop stars, love for Saturday morning cartoons, and exploration of the side of Bandcamp where I seem to be the only one purchasing. Bringing to you the odd and the upbeat from a growing collection of pre-rock novelties, classic and neo-Vaudeville, jug bands, polka, klezmer, and more at the convenient hour of 8-9 AM EST, Merrily We Roll Along starts the day off with a little light-hearted musical tomfoolery cut with an occasional comedy sketch. It's organic, free-range, cheese with the occasional onion thrown in.

Hamilton Camp and Don Messick  To All The Ghoul's I've Loved Before   Favoriting 1985  In the first episode of the 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, which, despite the title, refers to the ghosts as demons and somehow lost track of the number of ghosts because they only catch 12. DJ Guin:

is getting stoned and eating Scooby snacks the extent of his deductive powers as a sleuth?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:04am
MHLee:

Austin Roberts had a number 1 hit with the theme to Rocky
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:05am
MHLee:

@DJ Guin usually they solve mysteries by just tieing the dude up after they figure out there's something going on
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06am
MHLee:

One wonders if dressing as a ghost would actually bring more unwanted attention
Avatar 8:06am
DJ Guin:

Sandy Duncan is still cashing checks from her appearances. Sadly, the checks have stopped for Don Knotts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07am
MHLee:

Don Knotts was from this town. There's a statue of him on the main street
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:07am
MHLee:

The lyrics of this one are a bit wild
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:09am
MHLee:

I watched all the og series over and over as as a kid but I seriously don't remember Haunted House Hang-Up
Avatar 8:09am
DJ Guin:

the 'music' provided for this substandard children's entertainment was not from the Brill Building. the Bug-a-Loos were proof of that. most of these songs sound either Monkee-ish or Andy Kim composed.
Avatar 8:11am
DJ Guin:

tbh - never watched Scooby Doo. ever. i prefer the WB shorts. Hanna Barbera seemed to take the process and cheapen it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:12am
MHLee:

Austin Roberts has a single that he sings on. He tried to be a pop artist.

The problem with scooby-doo is warner bros made like 33 clones of the show after it caught on

DJ Guin:

true. WB sold to PATHE and the frogs churned out trash ala Pink Panther. ugh
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:14am

I guess Hanna-Barbera not warner bros but yeah that thread has all the clones

Achy Breaky cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:17am
MHLee:

That Billy Ray Cyrus is from the first of the direct-to-video series. For some reason, the first 3 of these are really dark. Like the monsters are real, people get dragged to hell...
Avatar 8:17am
DJ Guin:

they just confirmed Velma is out and proud. cool for kids whom identify.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19am
MHLee:

I saw that. I've recently really grown to appreciate the voice actress for Daphne. She's all over the place in shows I watch/have watched
Avatar 8:19am
DJ Guin:

Simple Plan? What? they couldn't get Nickelback? 😂
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20am
MHLee:

My roommate was a huge pop-punk fan... and a huge scooby-doo fan. She'd take showers and I'd hear it playing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:22am
MHLee:

Scott Innes must have been the voice of shaggy for a very short period. More on that in a minute.

flannery:

i finally made it live! driving to work n diggin it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:29am
MHLee:

Hi Flan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32am
MHLee:

This is the low point of scooby-doo I think creatively and musically. The next set features the in-universe Goth band Ska and more.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:32am
MHLee:

I like that they only catch 12 ghosts.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36am
Jan Turkenburg:

Listening in and enjoying while doing some cleaning in the kitchen.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37am
MHLee:

Well, it's pretty upbeat from here out... good music to be active to!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38am
Jan Turkenburg:

Something horrifying just happened. The mail arrived and there was a letter from the housing cooperation offering me a '55-plus-appartment'...! Aaaaaarghh, I'm really getting old!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38am
MHLee:

You might be able to get a discount now at least.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40am
MHLee:

I think Who Do Voodoo is one of the weaker Hex Girls songs, I've reached a conclusion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:46am
MHLee:

The last scooby-doo direct-to-video release I saw was number 15. There have been 22 since then in the same length of time.
Avatar 8:50am
DJ Guin:

Davy Jones! he never learned how to save his Monkee money.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:51am
MHLee:

Davy Jones ended up in Spongebob too
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52am
MHLee:

They had Sonny and Cher on that scooby-doo show as well but they don't sing in it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:53am
MHLee:

All these tracks sound-like Ohio Express outakes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56am
MHLee:

Actually, I think the lyrics/verse structure is often more complex in the scooby-doo songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56am
Jan Turkenburg:

Before I forget: thanks for the show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:58am
MHLee:

Thanks, Jan! And thanks for the pledge!
