@? .....I remember as a kid Dizzy was one of the baseball announcers after his career ended and he stirred up controversy due to his "mastery" of English , i.e., he "slud" into 3rd base........there was a movement afloat at the time to remove him

Great article Ultra!! I'm gonna read it in depth shortly but for now I remember going to some tiny record store where they were broadcasting live with Alice Cooper and that led me to this label that had Alice, Captain Beefheart. Wild Man Fischer?, and other extreme (at the time) acts. Since I got an AC album (pre Superstardom) I got push notiifies of Captain B and others. I will always treasure CB did a radio ID for WHFS (look up they were original free form where he said Wiffs !!

@ultra: according to Zappa, in "The Real Frank Zappa Book" "The way Don got his stage name is Don's Uncle Alan (Part of the group of several family members that all lived in the Van Vliet household during Don's HS years) had a habit of exposing himself to Don's girlfriend laurie. He'd piss with bathroom door open and if she was walking by he muble about his appendage something like "Ahh what a beauty, it looks like a big fine beef heart"
