i used to live near humboldt (both in williamsburg and bushwick). I think I know what you're talking about, and have heard it played out (i believe it was crito at one of the broklyn beats (recs) parties i heard it). (and that was at a loft party on broadway and hewes in 2007)

I've said this before, I don't think the DJ's duty is to NEVER repeat a track he/she likes, fits a set, etc. It's a common WFMU bugaboo, but I think we miss out if there is no ability to play something again (it doesn't make you commercial radio that has 10 tunes they constantly rotate). If I wasn't here in 2020, I'll not ever hear it (DJ's even try not to play something ANOTHER DJ has played, so we're SOL)

Listening to this great show a bit late: that guitar lick in "I'm Not Playing" is so hot that I had to check whosampled.com, and it's Albert King's "Cold Feet"--which means that the bass and drums is probably Duck Dunn and Al Jackson. Pretty funky!
