They went to Parsons college in Fairfield Iowa (it's where they met, in the choir) in the 50s. The president of the college, after they graduated, was an idiot apparently. He drove it into the ground and it went bankrupt. The Maharishi bought the campus to start his university. They say one of the reasons is because there's a building with a golden dome which would be perfect for levitation.

There's a podcast called "Life Of The Record" that does a dep dive into a classic record with thoughts from the people who made it. The one on Surfer Rosa, they interview Lovering, Joey Santiago, and Steve Albini--it's really interesting.

Ran 3.5 miles to a series of staircases. Then up the stairs for a mile and climb of 450 feet. Then 1.5 mile jog across the top of Queen Anne and down the backside. Followed by 2.5 miles across Ballard Bridge, up to my local coffee shop.
