@Peter K. The Coen Brothers film is a FICTIONALIZED tale of the 60s folk scene in NYC. All the participants/actors/ musicians are just playing roles. But the concert film, of course, presents real contemporary acts, as I listed. Even Oscar Isaac, not really a musician, shows up.

Sorry if I misunderstood you. What you wrote is that the movie "featured a lot of music of that era, including the Punch Brothers" -- which I wrongly took to mean that you were saying Punch Brothers themselves were "of that era." I apologize for misreading your words. I have seen "Inside Llewellyn Davis" and I know that it's a work of fiction. I also know that, despite what a lot of people think, it is about a fictional character and not about Dave Van Ronk.

Melanie Charles owes some royalties to Neil Young, doesn't she?

Late post-just a heads up, saw Fred Hersch Tuesday night at the Vanguard, really nice set (Miguel Zenon on alto, never seen him before, really loved his style/tone). You may very well be seeing them, but figured I'd recommend them if you are free and haven't (bit chamber music-y, Bill Evans-ish). Cheers!
