On this week's show: Joey Ryan of The Milk Carton Kids is on the show tonight to discuss their 1st Los Angeles Folk Festival as well as their upcoming show at The Beacon in NYC. Then Director Julia Rodriguez-Elliott will sit down and tell us all about her stunning new production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at aNoiseWithin in Pasadena. Then we've got some concerts to attend. First up New Zealand's very own The Beths at the Lodge Room in Highland Park. Then we're off to another Lodge, at Hollywood Forever for some spectacular fun with The Breeders. We're also going to check out a couple of fun theatre pieces. The Engagement Party at The Geffen Theatre and On Your Feet! The Story of Emilio & Gloria Estefan at La Mirada Theatre. October 19th at 7pm-12am PT, 10pm - 3am ET.

Years, YEARS ago I saw Ornette Coleman at the Geffen Playhouse( It was called The Westwood Playhouse back then) It was his Prime Time era band. I have no idea what the play was, but it looked like a sit-com living room. But there they were - two drummers and two bass player laying down a thumping groove with Ornette in the middle going nuts.

A night at the theater I will always remember.

I saw Ornette a couple of years later at The Orpheum Theater downtown L.A. It was a different feeling all together. He played the violin! Just him, Charlie Haden and Ed Blackwell.
