A friend recently let me borrow the first two seasons of The Big Valley. I watched only one episode and didn't like it because it seems like a western soap opera. Can you recommend any episodes? I'd like to give it another chance.

I hope New York City Blues mentions Tom Pomposello (1949 - 1999) slide guitar/bassist/ harmonica player who recorded with Mississippi Fred McDowell. Tom accompanied McDowell on the album Live in New York (1972). He also produced the anthology album Blues from New York (1974) and recorded his own record Honest Tom Pompolello (1975). He started Oblivion Records with Fred Seibert, who went on to work for MTV and (I think) the Cartoon Network. I was lucky enough to hear Tom live many times when I was a teenager and I often met him at Kropotkin Records, the store he opened in Huntington, NY. There is a lot of information about him online.

Watch the one I just saw. Night in a small town. James Whitmore(Them) who was usually cast as a tough as nails no nonsense cop, plays a town Marshall who is a moralistic, hypocritical bully. He gets his cumupance courtesy of Lee majors. Its real good

I took Professor Dick Penner's English Lit class when I was a student at the University of Tennessee. Good teacher. You would not suspect he had any records on the Sun label, but he didn't deny it either.

I should also mention that Tom Pomposello was the originator and host of the Blues program Something Inside of Me on WKCR (which is still part of the station's schedule).

Dick is awesome. We were his "handlers" at a screening of "LEMORA" several years ago. We grabbed lunch at a polish joint, had drinks at Beauty Bar, then walked to Cinema Village. "LEMORA" is one of my favorite films.
