Heading to bed early hoping to head off a head cold. Will listen to this from the archive. Someone else please keep count of the number of people asking for the body of Slate Shannon. I would think that more folks would be interested in the body of his slinky accomplice. [rim shot/cymbal choke].

Rocky has, in all the episodes we've heard so far, consistently referred to the police as "Gendarmerie," the french way of referring to an officer of the law. I wonder if Rocky spent some time in France? (Or, more likley, tried to woo a French girl once?)

I think I have mentioned this before: for a long time, there was a lot of confusion about how many episodes of "Bold Venture" there were, because the shows would be presented under different names in different markets. Some episodes were known by five different names. I'm still not sure how this happened; I guess the names were not distributed with the episodes, and broadcasters made up names? I don't know. But the names are not always "accurate," and it's hard to know which name is "right."
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:37pm
Webhamster Henry:

Is this hick Barton Yarborough?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:38pm
Austin Rich:

I think I might have mentioned this before, too, but: "Bold Venture" was ported to TV several years after the radio series was finished, with a completely different cast, and a few other differences in the premise. I think 45 episodes of this show were made, but I have no idea if the stories are similar in any way.

A lot of circuses now are people acts only! I saw one this spring and omg, the talent. It was incredible!! They did have a performer in a bear suit for the kiddies to get overpriced pics with. I wore leopard print to the show so I was an animal act, too.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 9:47pm

I wonder how many episodes of "Bold Venture" have Slate appear to be dead at the half-way point, and then is fine in the second half?

I think you are correct! This 40s version I mostly knew by reputation, as the comic I read would refer to this older version sometimes. But mostly, it was an 80's comic with a funny, quippy character who had modern gadgets. It was fun.

"I watched you on the television in college." This line probably meant something else in 1955 than it does in 2023. Back then, it's likely he meant, "All sorts of things are taught via TV in our era," where now, we would probably imagine that the Dr. has a YouTube show.
