Oh, hi. I almost didn't see you sitting there and how could I have missed you? Before you take all my breath away, why don't you slip away with me? What are we going to do? Well... I don't wanna spoil it for you but I can see us singing some songs, maybe take in a film or a show? Let's see where the evening takes us. I see us slow dancing under the moonlight lost in each other's eyes. Do you like to laugh? Of course you do. Will you laugh for me? Maybe just a little lau-- Wait, is that your laugh? It is? No-- Please don't do that again. Just take my hand and remember this magic is only for tonight. Join me in our One Night Stand.

Hey Bob, listening while driving around doing stuff. So great to hear the singers like Dinah Washington, Alberta Hunter, they don’t sing like this anymore.

Hey boss!! I know that Mahalia track is hair raising. So powerful.

Hiya BB 👋.
I must admit, all thru the late 70s-80s I pretty much ignorantly ignored Mr Rundgren’s career and albums. Despite my best buddy (all thru middle school & high school) strong suggestions to give him more of a chance
- to my punk & post punk ears, something was so middle of the road / radio friendly that I struggled to hear it’s distinction from all the others. Yet when I finally gave “Something/Anything” (1972) a more serious listen - I really felt the errors of my ways. That one really is a benchmark achievement. I also got a big kick outta his unique “A Capella” 1985 - literally a one man band of his vocals ! The guy is brilliant, yet not in that immediate obvious way. Been dabbling ever since.
& of course, his legendary production skills for so many utterly diverse artists goes WITH saying! 😜

Mrs Fab wants to go to Darryl’s House when in NY.. But the schedule is mostly just lame-looking tribute bands. This show looks MUCH better.

the tilt of our hemispheres, and daylight savings between us now mean I finish work for the day before you do. Which ends my WFMU listening for the day.....just as we hit champagne Hall

He was always pretty hit & miss for me. But looking back at his stuff I realize how very punk he was in that he didn't care what anyone thought. He made stuff that was interesting to him.

Yes, the Fripp stuff! Ive been a big Fripp/King Crimson fan since i was a wee tot, and always thought it so weird that he collaborated with Darryl Hall. How the heck did that happen?

Erik/VT:

Being particularly partial to rhythm heavy music (from a drummer family) I really enjoyed the “Big Bam Boom” 1984 album. Some folks found it a bit bombastic.
Oooo yea, dave stewart … will be curious to hear that.

Along with Hall & Oates oddball “War Babies” 1974, was always partial to the “Along the Red Ledge” 1978 album.
w/ cameos by Rundgren, Fripp, George Harrison, Rick Nielsen. (as wiki readily reminded me!)

I had watched a few of Halls House original tv show sessions. I’m intrigued to learn that he actually hosted Fripp recently! (what an odd pair). I read that glenn tilbrook (Squeeze) recently guested as well. Do we know what network / streaming service is hosting it ?
