Well, early '90's I was into what was considered alternative then and kind of Austin sound bands like Carolyn in Wonderland, Storyville, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Ian Moore, Arc Angels with Doyle Braumer and Charlie Sexton, along those lines. Right after that phase, I was a little bit into The Butthole Surfers. Then the swing and then rockabilly thing was how we progressed. Most of those bands I was into then were Houston bands in that scene, but I like 8 1/2 Souvenirs and Asylum Street Spankers with Guy Forsyth leading that band. Jessie Dayton lived in Houston then. And I was friends with he and his first wife through another friend. We used to go see his rockabilly band The Road Kings all the time

I think Honky was from Austin. Dug them. We had Emo's in Houston, too. Used to frequent both. Saw so many bands at both locations!

The book does cover both Emo's. I did learn about many acts that were big in Austin, but for some reason never translated beyond-even though they were making records as memorable as the national acts.
