Obscure musical gems, avant experimentation, and classics worth rehearing. A conurbation of Leslie speakers, timbales, plungers, arch-tops, tablas, and squeaky reeds. Black ties, pork pies, Cuban boots, Nudie suits, bobbysocks, turtlenecks, and high-heeled sneakers. Jazz is the north star but it’s a wide universe, so says The Laughing Clock.

My connections with distribution, though, were slight, but important. Steve Boudreau left Music Plus to establish a firm distributing imports. I benefited from that connection.

I visited Stranded Records in Oakland last week. They guys were talking about repairing a Nakamichi player. I don't remember which one I had, but I know it wasn't that ridiculous one that spun the disc around like a carousel.

Wait, HCF, which sax player? I'm also sorry we didn't get to meet up. Along these lines, I walked in to my local Whole Foods today, where one of the staff asked me, "How many WFMU t-shirts do you have?!"

By the way, I did visit the flagship WF, which is across the street from Waterloo.

Thanks, doctorjazz. It's possible that a long way down the road I'll compromise my distaste for 'phones.
