It's too bad "apophenia" isn't spelled "upophenia." If it were, it would be one of the rare words that includes all of the vowels. OED gives this illustration of the word from a 2012 issue of Psychology Today:

"Pattern-finding is so central to survival and success that we see patterns everywhere, even in random data—a phenomenon called apophenia. We spot faces in clouds and hear messages in records played backward."

Hi-playing the box set of Revolver, listened to the mono a couple of days ago, this morning played the stereo. Though mono seems to be the consensus among WFMU folks, I like the Stereo (I DID grow up with it, likely part of the reason, but I think you hear the various parts better on it).

I myself suffer from mild apophenia. For years i have recorded every online bank account login security code, because I perceive patterns that tell me the codes are not randomly generated. To date I have 819 codes, for which I've noted repeat numerals (say, a pair of 3s) and numerals shared with the immediately prior code.

Mel Collins is one of Rock n Roll's unsung saxophone players. His best solo was Alan Parsons' "Don't Answer Me". It even surpasses his most famous solo, The Rolling Stones' "Miss You"

Mel Collins later joined Camel. I saw Camel in its original configuration at the Roxy in LA, and then again with different personnel, e.g., Collins and Richard Sinclair. Sitting on my stack of recently received records, a huge box of Camel releases. Gotta dig in soon.

So I went over to YouTube and caught an HQ version of it. Beats the heck out of the official recording, both lyrically and musically. One day they will re-release the GAUCHO album in all its glory. For nw, we do have the bootlegs of what that album might have been.

I recommend it. I'm rarely attuned to the filmmaking itself, but a number of Bradley Cooper's directorial strategies and tactics are too strikingly effective for me to have missed.

Never got to see Bernstein conduct, but I did get to hear him play piano and sing (!) at a tribute concert for Marc Blitzstein. He did Blitzstein’s wistful & humorous song ‘Zipperfly’. Can’t wait to see Maestro.

I think she screams, "NOWWWW" on both the album and the single, albeit in different ways. The single has some pop affectations that attenuate the song's power. Worse yet, the instrumental fade out, capped by the long, dissonant horn note, is missing from the single. It's like releasing "A Day in the Life" without *that* piano chord. Sorta. The single came first, so maybe she improved on the single for the album, rather than having written the song as heard on the album and popping it down for the single. I hope so.
