Link Wray handed me a beer in his dressing room at Irving Plaza back in the 1980's in appreciation for giving him a print of a photo I shot of him with a bunch of guitarists for an MTV show in Jersey. Such a kind killer guitarist.

Another "meet" story. I met Roger Miller, but not the same one we've been listening too. He was playing guitar in a band from Boston called "Mission of Burma" back in the roaring 80s. All his brothers were muscians in Detroit area.

I first learned about Flaco in high school in the Syracuse NY area. Our local public library subscribed to Arhoolie Records' "History of Mexican and American Border Music." There probably wasn't anyone in town who had lived or grown up in the border area, and there were very, very few Mexicans in town.
