I love this kind of country. I used to listen to country when I was younger when Taylor swift was country, then she stopped being country and popular country music seemed to go downhill after that. I prefer the older hillbilly country up til 90s. Alt country and Americana is good tho

I probably would have never organically found country music. It was (thankfully) injected into my bloodstream growing up by my dads fam who had deep Kentucky roots (many still there). Nonstop bluegrass, loretta lynn, and a whole buncha others while growing up. This show has a ton of old favs for me, plus a whole other level of obscure acts from the same era. God love ya Becky!

What is hilarious is that through my 1990’s raver phase (well i still love electronic music, so not a phase), i found that many techno heads love bluegrass specifically. Oddly, there are many similarities between bluegrass and techno…all revolving around that 4x4 beat

I literally stumbled upon FMU randomly…somewhere around 2008. I got a new internet “clock radio” and you could filter stations. I was just combing through the “college” stations, and made a list of favs. Cant recall which shows “hooked” me, but do recall Blumin, Hazelton and Bodah’s Airborne Event were the prime culprits! WFMU remains at the top i the list.
