	♥ 6:18pm coelacanth∅: ↳ Asheville Jon @6:02 a friend moved to asheville in the early 80s, and convinced me to join him there early in 1985. i ended up only staying a few months, as only crappy jobs could be found (and i'd decided on a trade that wouldn't make sense in north carolina at the time) but it was easy to see the gentrification target. at least 1/3 the stores downtown were vacant (probably more like 2/3), and those were struggling. the bigger, shinier stores aimed at yuppies and new arrivals with money were doing well. 'seemed like almost everyone i met there was not native nc; and most people considered it a "melting pot". my friend eventually moved to the outskirts and visits asheville as little as necessary. ...i Loved it there; but then, i was from new jersey!

Living in Athens 1978-90 I felt I had what I needed there and seldom went to Atlanta. I think Atlanta was as big as it needed to be in 1975. Of course, I could say the same about Nashville.

To be honest, the fastest and easiest way is to just stay on 75 and go through downtown. You add so much extra time using the bypass and you still end up sitting there half the time.

Discotech Underground is actually two...two...two shows in one!

The first half is a "Happy Hour" of sorts (because it's five o'clock somewhere, right?), spinning the kinds of sounds you might have heard at a real, authentic 1960's DISCOTECH as cool cats and swingin' chicks danced the night away in their mod threads and mini skirts to hard-driving sounds under the flashing lights! The only thing missing are the cage dancers...but we're working on it!

The second half is for when you head home after a wild night, and ease in with the heady, trippy, mind-expanding sounds of a groovy free-form UNDERGROUND rock radio station that digs deep into their library and blows your mind all over again!

	♥ 6:18pm coelacanth∅: ↳ Asheville Jon @6:02 a friend moved to asheville in the early 80s, and convinced me to join him there early in 1985. i ended up only staying a few months, as only crappy jobs could be found (and i'd decided on a trade that wouldn't make sense in north carolina at the time) but it was easy to see the gentrification target. at least 1/3 the stores downtown were vacant (probably more like 2/3), and those were struggling. the bigger, shinier stores aimed at yuppies and new arrivals with money were doing well. 'seemed like almost everyone i met there was not native nc; and most people considered it a "melting pot". my friend eventually moved to the outskirts and visits asheville as little as necessary. ...i Loved it there; but then, i was from new jersey!

Living in Athens 1978-90 I felt I had what I needed there and seldom went to Atlanta. I think Atlanta was as big as it needed to be in 1975. Of course, I could say the same about Nashville.
