Ahoy, Devon & Islanders!

I will alwyas consider this man's pre-Pink Panther work as his Golden Era (especially his theme for "Mr. Lucky", whom I have FXO (RIP) to thank for introducing me to it).

I think Howard Shore was riffing on this sound for his Ed Wood score.

I rubbed elbows with a couple of old timers who worked for Mancini around my home town. One guy contracted orchestras to play the stuff in the midwest, a bunch of that guy's colleagues toured with Mancini for years. Sounded like a good gig!

GC in Bmore:

Everyone should know that Mancini’s wife Ginny was a great singer in vocal groups and then also a voice teacher. She’s the high lead voice on all of Mel Torme’s Mel Tones cuts and then went on to do a ton of voice work in other vocal groups. A giant in her own right.
